I took a look at GNUCash based on CJinNC's post and agree that it might be an alternative for those wanting to get out of Quickbooks desktop now that Intuit has made using QBD troublesome in their effort to force users to their online products. Just do a search on GNUCash and you will get to their website and to a number of reviews and comparisons. For anyone who insists on keeping their accounting entirely out of the cloud GNUCash may be the only alternative. It appears to be pretty basic, but then again how many use more than the most basic functions of Microsoft Word or Excel? For most of us the versions of those about 10 back already had all the features we normally need so upgrading to the latest version from MS with the latest new features was meaningless.
CJ has a point about losing a lot of accounting history. But one soultion is obvious and that's just keep QBD all all those historic files and start with GNUCash, or other, going forward. If you have consolidated your QB files in the past as I have when they grew to great proportions you will have noticed that you lose the detail of past transactions anyway. And, in most cases I never need to look back more than a couple of years for detail anyway.
Thanks to CJ for the suggestion.
I get so frustrated with this repeated request. Never mind that the heading says that ask every 89 days to protect my account. I am not online. And according to my notes, today was my last request: 06/05/23. Before that was 05/26/23; Before that 03/24/23; before that in February. If they can't keep up with 89 days, how am i to trust that they are not trying to access my system for nefarious purposes rather than protecting me. UGH!
Do you know how to do this for QBO?
Hello there, @ITGuy1. How do you get the "Create an Intuit Account" pop up to go away in Quick Books Online (QBO)? -- I can not access the settings or wheel, because the pop up is in the way and it won't go away when I hit the upper right corner X -- it keeps coming back. Very frustrating as I can not get into our accounting system. Please help.

It says every week I have not logged in. The program is faulty. Why can't you fix it? And I don't want a sample of what I need to do. I have done it multiple times and it does not fix the problem. Tell the programers to get it right for once
Absolutely, this does nothing for security. I don't use payroll or any of the business stuff. I think they are just trying to get money. Guess I will look for another simple program for my day to day personal affairs. The message is very annoying.
QuickBooks online is insufficient. Not user friendly.
First Intuit makes it where you are forced to log in to your Intuit account. Now the "you haven't logged in to your account in 89 days" message pops up every week and I keep logging in but it doesn't seem to stick. How about Intuit tries focusing on making good accounting software instead of acquiring additional apps and price gouging... can ya'll get any more annoying? Yes, apparently you can.
RE: can ya'll get any more annoying? Yes, apparently you can.
They do seem to be trying really hard to be as annoying as possible.
Let's not give up People. Thousands of us still own Quickbooks 2020 and previous - like I said DON"T do the last update, (maintenance release) Quickbooks Update , it will remove some of the features you now have to force you to buy the new version to get them back.
HaHaHaHa...
This is complete nonsense and is not responsive at all to the issue being raised by this thread. Just more Intuit BS that can be ignored.
Watch your bank statements!! QB charged me $15 3 times on March 13th for the same account. I only signed up for one month on Jan 12 and cancelled by Feb 12. I only ever had 1 account. They can't find the charges in their system. I had to block them from removing anymore money from my account.
It despicable that you cannot even download a .qbo file onto your desktop from your bank and upload it anymore into QB. There is no bank connection necessary for that. QB is just trying to F people over.
I'm done with them.
RE: It despicable that you cannot even download a .qbo file onto your desktop from your bank and upload it anymore into QB.
I understand your frustration. Intuit turns off all "connected features" when it removes support for older versions, and it sees the Bank Feeds / Online Banking center and importing QBO files as connected features. This isn't new; they've been doing it for 20 years or so.
If you don't need any other connected features and you want to stay on an older version, you can still import OFX, QFX and QBO files into QuickBooks indirectly, by converting them to IIF files. You can use our OFX/QFX/QBO to IIF Converter to do that.
right clicking on the gray bar at the top works for me.
I login in every time and change the preferences to ask in 90 days. The login a few days later and it says I haven't logged in for 88 days (untrue) and to enter admin password. If I can find any alternative I will jump ship because of these deceptive ploys to sell more stuff.
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, FrustratedUser1001.
Since you've been signing in to your Intuit account successfully within the past 88 days, but are encountering a message advising that you haven't logged in for 88 days, I'd recommend troubleshooting with some of your available tools.
Initially, you can use the Verify Data utility. This identifies known issues within company files and informs users if their Rebuild Data option needs to be utilized afterwards.
Here's how it's used:
If its results show a "Your data has lost integrity," message, this indicates there's damage in your file. You can use the Rebuild Data tool to fix it. For specific errors, there may already be a resource for them on our support site.
In the event it displays a "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," notification, or you've searched our help articles and didn't find any existing resources about the specific error it displayed, you can move on to troubleshooting with our QuickBooks Tool Hub.
Here's how:
If you continue encountering this message after performing the recommended troubleshooting steps, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with Intuit accounts which may come in handy moving forward: How to access QuickBooks files with One Intuit Account
I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Monday!

This advice useless. I have the same issue. Says I have not logged in for 89 days. Data file verified; no errors. Arranged a call with support. Guy is ignorant. Wastes my time and knows NOTHING or feigning ignorance, when clearly this is a widespread issue. I could live with 90 days. Weekly is BS. Oh, and the support guys said he shows I haven't logged in since March, which is absolutely not true. More like once a week.

My productivity has dropped to zero. QBDT wants me to log on to my QB account and I don't want to. My company files that do not access the internet is none of their business.
Now the email screen is frozen. Can't go forward, can't go back, can't exit. This is not my first time either. I lose an entire day and hope that overnight will reboot something.
Can't get a phone number to talk to QB.

The ultimate problem is the program is full of bugs and has constant problems. All the suggestions for getting QB to stop from telling us that we have not logged in does not work. The program is faulty and should be fixed. So tired of constant problems with this program. I wish my clients would not use it. Worst mistake I every made was switching from Peachtree for Windows to QB.
