If I check "Don't allow any applications to access this company file", will it affect my payroll updates?

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Thanks for following this thread, TAXbak.

When utilizing QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), turning off the Don't allow any applications to access this company file feature will not affect your payroll updates. The option primarily pertains to third-party and Intuit-related applications.

By turning off this option, you are allowing specific applications to access your company file, including any necessary updates related to payroll. It ensures that you can continue to receive timely payroll updates, such as tax table changes, compliance modifications, and other crucial payroll-related information delivered through Intuit's servers. Let me guide you through the process.

  1. Go to the Edit menu at the top to select Preferences.
  2. Tap Integrated Applications on the left panel.
  3. Choose the Company Preferences tab.
  4. Uncheck the box for Don't allow any applications to access this company file.
  5. Hit OK twice to close out the Preferences window.

Check out this article for more insights into this process: Block applications from accessing the QuickBooks company file.

Let me know if you have any clarifications or other concerns. I’ll be around to answer them for you. Have a great day ahead!

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Hello everyone,

I am facing a challenge with the Web Connector integration for my QuickBooks (QB) software. Currently, I have a total of 50 companies added to QB, and I am using the Web Connector to handle the integration for all of them.

The problem arises when the Web Connector runs, as it triggers a login popup for all 50 companies one by one. This is causing a significant issue with the Automatic sync process.

I am actively seeking a solution to stop these login popups. However, I want to emphasize that I cannot shut off all third-party applications because the Web Connector is essential for our workflow.

I have already tried blocking QB from the firewall, but unfortunately, that did not resolve the problem. Additionally, I have verified that the popup setting is disabled for all 50 companies.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide any suggestions or insights on how to overcome this issue.

Thank you all in advance for your assistance and support.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Hi there, Prajapati.

I recognize turning off the Integrated Applications isn't the best way to resolve your issue since Web Connector is critical for your workflow. Let me provide you with another troubleshooting option to overcome the pop-up issue.

QuickBooks Desktop will base on the setup of your Windows settings. In this case, you'll need to check the universal settings of the browser to verify if it deletes cache or cookies automatically. Thus, this may cause a login pop-up upon running Web Connector in QuickBooks.

If you're not sure how to check the universal settings, I recommend seeking help from an IT professional.

Just in case you encounter specific errors when running Web Connector, you can check out this article to learn how to fix it: Fix common Web Connector errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

Come back to this post if you have other concerns or follow-up questions about this. I'll be around to provide further assistance.

Honestly, in a world of more automation, we need to be able to have things happen automatically without popups happening and blocking everything. If a computer is accessing QB via an API call, why would it possibly be able to login via a popup??? It's so silly I thought surely I was missing something, but no, Intuit is probably just pushing hard to get people to move to cloud rather than desktop. The issue is that cloud doesn't really work and has far less functionality than desktop.  Some of our clients are moving to Microsoft BC and we are putting our development in that direction because QB is just not listening. They are not going to listen, it's obvious that they want it the way it is. So we are moving on to something that we can actually be productive with in an automated world.

Thanks for your response.

You are correct. We have developed many things for Web Connector and record sync, but now this Login Popup is causing issues in the sync process. It's impractical to log in 50 times into each account every month; it's just a waste of time.

We will need to find some solution for this.

Not sure if you were responding to my post about an alternative to QB desktop, but if so, the product is called GnuCash. It's open source so it's a free down load. I downloaded and played with it a bit. It looks to me like it would be a viable alternative. It's not quite as flashy with the screen graphics and I didn't go deeply into functionality since I'm retiring and won't have need for this level of accounting software. But, I suggest that others wanting to find an alternative to QB desktop to get a copy and try it out. As with all open source software the more users are using it and providing feedback to the various developers, the more it grows and fine tunes to user needs.

Best!

I, too, have been looking at GnuCash as a replacement for QuickBooks. My trepidation lies in the effort to convert a long history from the one to the other. Not too surprisingly, Intuit doesn't make that easy.

Some light on the horizon comes from an Internet search for "Escape from QuickBooks". The second response (from DuckDuckGo, at least) points to article #729087 on lwn dot net. (And, yes, I did not list the URL literally in case Intuit decides to filter out such text.) Now all I need to do is muster up the courage to move twenty-two years worth of data from the one to the other.

I agree, please provide the law that you are quoting QB.  I am interested in that as well.  Also, I have been able to capture a message by QB that says all of my payroll data has been successfully updated.  Can you tell me exactly what payroll data has been successfully updated?  And I am and have always used the desktop version for that very reason.  Also, please direct me to I can find what data from desktop version you are secretly sifting off our desktop.  Last week we had an outage due to verizon and was compensated for it.  However we were unable to use QB the entire week because we had not internet connection.  Please explain if we are using a desktop version. I think I know but I would like your official answer.  If you are not collecting data please say that.  If you are please just say that.

I am confused.  So are you saying we were not receiving timely payroll and tax table updates prior to this release?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. Let me share details on how payroll updates work in QuickBooks. I'll also ensure you can check what data is successfully updated and verify the version you're utilizing by following the steps below.

Once you've performed a payroll update, it helps you to get the newest tax table in QuickBooks Payroll to stay compliant with paycheck calculations. These updates include current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal tax tables, payroll tax forms, and e-file and pay options.

To see exactly what payroll data has been successfully updated, you can open this link QuickBooks Desktop 2023 or go to the Payroll Update Info section QBDT. You can then check the newest payroll information from there.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Employees menu at the top.
  2. Choose Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Click Payroll Update Info.

On the other hand, I suggest logging into Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs). From there, you can manage your accounts to check what type of subscription and version you have.

Here's how:

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account info. This could differ from what you use to sign in to your company file.
  3. If you see multiple products to choose from, select QuickBooks Desktop to go to CAMPs.

Then, please note that QuickBooks won't automatically update your payroll and tax table. As a result, you will not receive timely payroll and tax table updates until you download the most recent one.

I also recommend updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. This way, you always have the latest features and product improvements.

Lastly, you may refer to this article if you need a report that indicates what you've paid out in your QuickBooks payroll: Create a payroll summary report in QuickBooks.

Don't hesitate to add a comment below if you have other concerns related to QuickBooks. I'm always around to help. Have a great day!

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I use QB Pro V. 2019 and my clients use QB Pro v. 2018. We have this same problem and it has annoyed us for several years. Intuit has no right to require a log in to an intuit account when I purchased the software without that requirement. I just changed my settings as you suggest above. Lets see if it works. I hope so.

To further complicate this problem when I tried to log into my Intuit account for my client's QB Pro v. 2018 it simply buffered endlessly. It is installed on a cloud server. I have the administrator working on the problem. When I called QB tech support I reached someone in Asia who couldnt understand what I was talking about. I could only understand one word out of five that she said. I was on the phone with her for an hour and she insisted that I could only solve the problem of the buffering by buying the newest edition of QB ! Your tech support for regular users is completely inept. This is outrageous. My client doesnt want to buy the new QB where they have a subscription that costs $500 per year. I wish there was a good alternative to QB.

Consider to reinstall your QB program and reactivate the license.

I seem to remember somewhere that disabling the Payroll feature would stop the need to "login".

As I only have one other person who works part time as contract labor, I do not use the Payroll feature. I disabled it.  I made my back-up and closed QB Premier 2019 as I always do.  Upon re-opening QB there was a bit of a delay before the software package opened.  For a few minutes I was worried it might not load/start.

It did, and I have not seen the requirement to "login to my Intuit Account" online since.

Seriously, what a waste of time to uninstall and reinstall. Why can't they just fix the program, its because they want to make more money with all the bugs in it.

Requiring users to log into an Intuit account every certain number of days could easily be fixed with an update, except they no longer support QB v. 2018 and 2019. There are no more updates, so we are stuck with this.
