That is not the purpose of Intuit wanting us desktop users to sign in. I have been told that you are moving desktop users to a "subscription" service where we will have to pay an annual subscription fee. Also if you look at purchasing a new Quickbooks desktop product, "subscription" is all over the box. Why are you lying about the purpose of us signing in? You want to know who's out there so you can charge an annual subscription fee. That's the purpose. Signing into Intuit does NOTHING for my security. I've been managing my own security for decades. I don't use Payroll or any Intuit payment service. So that explanation does NOT hold water.
I followed these step (to the letter), and it did not stop the harassing message.
My issue is related, but a little different. I periodically get an e-mail from QuickBooks Desktop <[email address removed]>, with the following beginning - "
We noticed you haven’t signed in to your Intuit account for over 180 days. It’s important for an admin to keep company file’s Intuit account active by signing in once every 180 days."
I have QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019 version, and use Enhanced Payroll.
The thing is, I regularly sign into QuickBooks, but my User ID is not my e-mail address. Is this what is causing the issue? I would dearly love for this to be corrected, because I fear that this is a prelude to getting locked out of QuickBooks.
I don't think I've seen this part of the problem addressed either; I have multiple client accounts, I don't want *my* Intuit account opened when I open each of my client's data. Many of these clients will never need an Intuit account. Today I couldn't go past the question without making a choice, I ended up logging on as non-admin which then sent an email to the client to set up an Intuit account. They immediately forwarded that to me, 'do you need this?' I just don't understand why this is a required step to use the platform.
What is your recommendation for multiple client files? Create a user account for each one, which then will use their email for notification that I may need? Or use my user account for all my clients which then ties them all back to my account?
Thank you
Tracy
Let's get this sorted out, @Coleraine and @TracyAFY.
When you sign in to your QuickBooks company file, you'll want to use the email address associated with your Intuit account. Please know that QuickBooks requires you to log back in every 180 days using your Intuit account to notify you that you're the admin. To get this resolved, you'll want to link your QuickBooks Desktop company file to your existing Intuit Account. Here's how:
The Intuit account window closes after you successfully login into your existing Intuit account. This account login is now considered the Primary Admin for the Intuit account.
I'm adding this article to learn how to access and manage your QuickBooks files with your Intuit account: How to access QuickBooks Desktop files with One Intuit Account.
Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day.
And as usual you do not understand the original question posed. Is English a second language for you people?
I DO NOT WANT TOI LOG INTO AN ONLINE ACCOUNT. I neither want or use the online services. Continually telling me how to log in is a useless endeavor! All I wanted to know was how to get rid of the constant nag screen, every 14 days, asking me to log in!
Please read the original post!
Anyway - I'm no longer dealing with this BS as I am not the assistant treasurer anymore.
Thanks for all the useless replies!
You need to use your firewall and block the 2 quickbooks exe files from accessing port 443, outbound. Please check previous replies in the thread for screenshots and such. Just ignore the msgs coming from Quickbooks Team, as they do nothing but waste your time.
Plz scroll back to previous replies on here, you will see how to block the 2 quickbooks exe files from accessing port 443, outbound using the firewall. That will stops QB from asking you to login, moving forward, but you will get a reminder e-mail from QB about not logging in, just use an e-mail filter and just junk/trash it and move on.
You are absolutely correct about QuickBook's plans. At the end of May, our desktop versions will lose the ability to download transactions, and if you use ACFT, that won't work either. I plan to continue to use the software without these features because I refuse to be "forced" into buying something that I don't feel comfortable with.
Hi Fibrepunk, Would you go through how to set up this new rule again, Thanks Andy
For those of you that are pressing ALT+F4 and it's still not closing, RIGHT CLICK within the title bar at the top of the window and select "CLOSE" then select "CANCEL".
This is truly absurd. I am now completely unable to access a program on my desktop that uses no intuit online services. Apparently, I've passed some mystical amount of passes and now it just won't let me access my work.
Thank you very much! I'm independent contractor and now I can't work. This stupid is completely unnecessary for me.
I think it is now time for all QB users that are fed up with being held hostage with a program we paid for to take action. I would suggest filing complains with your state's Attorney General and with your local Senator and Representative. If will only work if we become enough of a pain in the a** to these people that they will then become a pain in the a** to Intuit. I am sick and tired of being treated like an imbecile because of "security". I've seen all all these posts where people are willing to take responsibility. I feel Intuit wants to track us just like every other tech company. I will bet they are selling information. So get on board, write, call, email, text all the above. Not just once but over and over again!
FYI I had to use a** because Intuit said I used a naughty word....good lord!!!
I think I found a way to fix this. All I do is NOT do it. I close the window when it comes up. I've been working for a couple of months in a file and it doesn't even come up and ask me anymore! Even when clients bring me THEIR files, I just wait until the X shows up and I close the window. So far, so good. Sure, there isn't a way to ELMINATE it, but ignoring it seems to be working for me. I agree, it should not even BE THERE but I've come to the conclusion Intuit is NOT going to budge on the IDIOTIC idea of logging into an ONLINE account for a desktop product. I have advised ALL clients to NOT do it. The ones that had already done it are having issues emailing invoices and statements. The ones that didn't setup a login have had no issues.
I've noticed a few updates in "New Features" and "Pro" in the past few months, MAYBE Intuit is listening.?
Check out page 7 and look to the bottom for the screenshots.
For those who are new to this thread:
-- To stop QB from harassing you to login to their online account with your Desktop version or you won't be able to use QB:
-- 1)Firewall - blocking the outgoing connection 443 port for the QBW32.exe and QBW32xxxx.exe files. Note: xxxx = pro, premier etc.
-- And for those who aren't familiar with how to setup the firewall. Here are the screenshots(attachment image) with step by step and credit goes to Flyingkiwi!
My customer keeps getting this message via email. It is so annoying. I signed in and STILL we keep getting the message. Seriously, make it stop!!
I've been just trying to X out of the question as much as possible. This was a bad step by Intuit.
Have you tried my screen shot/post on page 10?
So far, so good with the firewall instruction manual. I set it up, then rebooted the computer and NO NAG on restarting QB. Thanks! Let's hope it sticks for a while.
I went out of business 12/31/20. I do not want or need Intuit! Now my entire laptop is frozen and I can not get out of this sign up for Intuit screen. Somebody needs to get this off my laptop now!!
There's an easy way to close the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program on your laptop, @DE67. Let me guide you on how to do this.
Your laptop has a built-in software wherein you can monitor all your running applications, processes, and services, as well as computer performance, network activity, and memory information. I'm talking about the Task Manager tool. You can utilize the said app to close the QBDT program. To do this, you can perform any of the following:
Once you're in the Task Manager window, select the QuickBooks Desktop application, then click the End task button. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.
Also, I'm adding this article to guide you in managing your QBDT company file: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about data security and company information, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections.
Don't hesitate to let me know if you need further assistance in closing the QBDT application on your device. I'm just around to help. Take care and stay safe always.
Hmmm... I am not sure the Quickbooks employee answer solves your problem, as it will come back next time.
It sounds like you want to either uninstall QB completely, or at least stop it from autostart when the computer boots.
Uninstall is from your apps menus (right click on windows icon at bottom left of screen)
Change or disable programmes from startup is in Task Manager (Windows+R then type taskmgr)
Choose Startup folder and disable those that you do not want running in the background.
This is utter nonsense. To start with cite the relevant section of law that you claim pertains.
