That's utter nonsense. If your desktop software is not secure without being logged into an Intuit account you should state so clearly right up front. If that is the case, and you had so stated right up front, my guess is that the majority of other desktop users posting in this thread would not have purchased the software. I would not.
I know you would like users to believe that your CAMPs is provided for the users benefit and that it conveys some level of security that the user desperately needs. Of course that is not exactly true. When the user logs into CAMPs from a browser they are afforded whatever they need to manage their account. When they are forced to log on via the software it provides Intuit the opportunity to verify that the user has a licensed version and to further snoop into the users use of the software including access to any company account the user then has open.
Once again, you folks at Intuit are purposefully not responding to the real issue that users, many, many users of the desktop software are complaining about. I can think of no other desktop software product that requires a user to regularly log into the providers system, using the software, for any reason. Throughout this thread I've ready dozens of explanations offered by the Quickbooks team about why they require users of the product to regularly use the product to log into Intuit's systems. It's required to conform to the law, it's necessary for your security, we have your back, blah, blah, blah. All nonsense. Quickbooks is requiring this for reasons purely of interest to Quickbooks, not the user. As many have said, we don't want, or need, any of what you claim to be offering through these required logins. If the software was secure and suitable for the purpose it was marketed for at the time of sale, fine. Then leave us alone. If it was not secure without your constant oversight, or somehow doesn't conform to the law, well, then tell us that. A great many of us have clearly stated that we do not want to be required to log into your site from the software, and we don't want to have to perform some work around every 7 days to avoid doing so. Stop serving up platitudes about how much you are just trying to help. Remove this annoying requirement! If I could think of any simpler way of saying it I definitely would but I do not think that you, the Quickbooks team, are really that thick headed that you are really not understanding the message. You have not responded because it doesn't serve your purpose, whatever that is.
Unless the QB staff is illiterate they must know what we are all saying, so my only conclusion is that they are lying. Someone in management is telling them to feed us all a line of nonsense to placate us. This thread has been going on for over a year and nothing has changed. Every seven days I have to shut this warning down, but now I noticed it's freezing the program. I had to use task manager to shut it down. It took three tries to make it work!
I hope other companies are reading this because if someone else comes up with an equal or better alternative program I am switching instantly.

Of course this is nonsense but since you brought up the question of law I'll contribute something related. I was having dinner last Friday with an attorney friend. We were discussing business related annoyances and I mentioned this and that it seems to have pissed off quite a number of people. I said that maybe w should file a class action, not really taking it seriously, then asked if that was possible. His response was reasonable and cautious reminding me that it would depend on a lot of specifics. But, then he said that the way these things really start is by determining how many people are affected, i.e. how big would the class be. Also, reasonable enough since that determines the dollars involved. So, by a show of hands, how many would like to join?

Will I still be able to import IIF files from Intuit online payroll if I turn off this function?
Hi Ryan_M
Okay, I’m not sure I can even get past the first line of your response to @btks but I’ll give it a try.
You start by saying, “If you use QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) in offline mode…” and that stopped me cold because it infers that Quickbooks Desktop (QBDT) has an online “mode” in addition to an “offline mode.” I suspect many users of QBDT, myself included, selected to buy and use that version specifically because they did not, and do not, want to be operating their accounting online. You have an online, or cloud, version which any of us would presumably be free to choose to use. We did not choose your online software.
So, let me first ask a very specific question that calls for a very explicit answer, if QBDT has both an online and offline mode, where in the software is that mode shown? Second question, also requiring an explicit answer, where in the software is the online or offline mode selected and set?
If you provide answers to both of those questions then many of use might be satisfied if we can just switch from “online mode” to “offline mode.”
I and others, anxiously await your response.

Thanks for joining this thread, @Andreas.
You'll have to turn on the function, so the IIF files that are imported will continue to process. Also, make sure to use the Export Preferences page to enter your QuickBooks accounts. Use the same names of the QuickBooks accounts you will use for the payroll data. let me show you how.
For more details, see this article: Export Intuit Online Payroll transactions to QuickBooks for Windows or Mac (IIF).
Once done, you can now import to QuickBooks Desktop. If you have QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, you can still import transactions using IIF files. Follow the steps on how to import the file:
For QuickBooks for Mac, these steps would let you import the file:
Check out this article for additional reference: Export, Import, and Edit IIF Files.

Hi,
Thank you for responding so quickly. I have already been exporting from Intuit online payroll for a few years now. My problem is really that as of a couple weeks ago, I started getting an error message when I try to send financial reports to my clients. It happened all of a sudden to all my client files and I didn't change anything on my end. I use webmail and AOL as the internet provider. from what I read when I posed my initial question, it said that now there is a 3rd party involved and I might need to disable that feature in order to send reports to my clients in the old manner. I know now that you have to login to Intuit with your credentials, so I was simply asking how to do that as well. Not liking all these changes and I agree with everyone else that my QB files from my desktop don;t need to be on anyone else's server but mine and my backup company whom already pay.
Thanks for the clarification, @Andreas.
Can you share with me the exact error you’ve received when sending financial reports?
Data issues are one of the reasons why you encountered this. You can utilize the Verify Rebuild Data tool in QuickBooks Desktop to resolve it.
Here’s how:
Please know that you'll need to log in to your Desktop account using the single-user mode when performing this process.
When you sign in to your QuickBooks account, you'll want to use the email address associated with your Intuit account. QuickBooks requires you to log back in every 180 days using your Intuit account to notify you that you're the admin. You can link your QBDT company file to your existing Intuit Account. I'll show you how:
Our QuickBooks Support page contains resources, tips, and instructional videos to help your navigation experience improved. You can select each topic to learn more.
I’d appreciate it if you can give us updates on your reports and log-in situation. We’ll be here anytime. Always take care!
Someone please help me! Intuit doesn't seem to cafe! I have Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2017 and everything has been fine. A month or so ago it stopped sending my emails. QB was no help. We had to create a new email. NOW Intuit has this login process that won't recognize the new email and is blocking sending invoices. I have been unable to run my company all week! Emailing invoices is the only feature we utilize. Our process is very simple until now.
I have tried everything I know! Please give me my company back!
Help! :(
Pamela
Hello there, @WHI2001. I'm here to lend a hand.
To help resolve common issues when using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you'll want to ensure your QuickBooks copy is updated to the latest release. Once done, check the web mail's settings in the preferences.
Here's how:
For more details, check out the below articles:
Keep me posted on how this goes on your end. I'll get back to you. Have a great day.
Let's not get off the track here. This is not about Payroll files or Email Servers and AND BLOCKING SENDING INVOICES. This forum is about How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account.
Hi All,
I'm using QB Enterprise 21. I read through this entire thread. I'm able to login to QB using my local admin account, and I can close the obnoxious screen about the online account, BUT...I can add or edit users. It just puts me back to the online account screen.
Is there a way to manage users without the online account?

Thanks for joining in this thread, @dfosbenner.
I can guide you on how to manage roles in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. Here's how:
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is the only version that can create a “view-only” user. Learn more about creating and modifying roles in QuickBooks Enterprise.
In case the issue persists, run the Verify and Rebuild Data tool in QuickBooks Desktop.
You can also visit our QuickBooks Articles to get some pointers and steps to any of your tasks in managing your business.

- In the Company menu, select Users, then select Users and Roles.
- Select the Role List tab.
- Select a role and then select Edit to review its permissions
- In the Area and Activities section, select an area of your accounts. If you want, you can select None, Full, or Partial to set the access level.
- Once you set the permissions, select OK to save.

I think you misunderstood. I am not able to access everything you are describing. As soon as I go to Users, a box box up stating it is required that I have an online account to edit users. I do not have an online account, and this is not something our company is willing to create. As repeated but dozens of other users in this thread, I need to be able to manage my local QB system LOCALLY, without going on the internet.
So, has anyone found a way this can be done?
I am quickbooks user who has encountered this same problem, not moving forward past the pop up window, can not bypass this screen and can not process payroll for this week. I have called and used the support to no avail.
Hi @dfosbenner,
Thank you for the prompt reply. I'll explain the process of adding users and editing roles in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise.
Using my QBDT test account, I was able to open the User and Roles page without logging into the Intuit Online account. I didn't take any new steps to get there, since it's the same steps provided by my peer @katherinejoyceO above.
See this screenshot for reference:
After you click Set Up Users and Roles, you'll get this window:
If you continue to have the same issue, I suggest contacting our Technical Support team for assistance. They can pull up your company information within a secure environment. They can then investigate why you have this issue, as well as provide a resolution for it.
See this article for the steps: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support. Please take note of their operating hours, so you know when they're available.
Post a reply if you have other questions about managing users and their roles in QBDT. I'll be around to help you out.
This is just another diversionary tactic, by Quickbooks, to address the real problem. I think pretty much everybody knows how to change the User Roles. Anyway this does not solve the question at hand, why is Quickbooks constantly asking us to log in to our account when WE OWN THE PRODUCT???
Gotta add my voice here. I've been following this thread for several months now, and it has been appalling to watch as QB support staff offer up obvious hogwash (e.g., "better security") when they're not just misunderstanding the question.
Stating the same complaint another way,
QB comes in a desktop version. And in an online version. Those of us participating in this thread could have bought the online version, but instead we chose to buy the desktop version, for reasons. And for an apparent majority of us, the critical reason for choosing the desktop version was the increased security we get from not exposing our data to any other party, including Intuit.
For Intuit to require this login is to open up a breach in the very security we were looking for in choosing the desktop version. Please stop pretending that this login affords us additional security. You know very well that it does not. Intuit must have some other reason for wanting us to expose our data, and whatever that reason is, we know that it is not in our interest.
So, rather than treat this as a question to be answered by support staff -- since we can see from the many pages of this thread how unsuccessful that has been -- please take it instead as a complaint and a suggestion: Stop requiring the login. We don't want it. We don't need it. We chose and paid for a product that didn't require it, and that's why we are here now.
Finally Back on track CasperH. We have to continue these posts because not only do our fellow Quickbooks owners read them, but when people google quickbooks or intuit, they will also see them.
