How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

We were trying to move from QB to another Software called "Traverse" because we thought QB couldn't do what we wanted it to. We've recently discovered it can! Now we are back tracking on Traverse because it is so outdated and clunky that Aptean charge literally thousands to make minor changes to even spelling on a form. So once we found out QB would do what we didn't think it would, we started looking in to moving to it. At this time the CEO / Owner started getting this very error and after reading how many people can't get Intuit to fix simple issues such as this... I doubt we do. Sad... I was so giddy to move away from the Traverse-City.

Since launching 2022 and stating QBD will be SUBSCRIPTION BASED ONLY, it's clear they made this change so they can lock you out of your software if it's not renewed each and every single year. Get ready for the price hikes and complications.

I read through this thread and agree with all. Intuit is a train wreck and if a comparable program came along, we would all jump ship in a heartbeat.

This is NOT helpful.  I already have this setting checked and I am STILL  getting asked to SIGN IN to my intuit account.  IT IS completely unnecessary and VERY annoying.

That does not work because YOU are being asked to login to your Intuit account.  The question occurs BEFORE you even log into your quickbook file.  AND if you try to ignore logging into your intuit account YOU will be FORCED to by being denied access to your file until you do.

You've got to ask yourself one question...Why is it so important to Quickbooks to have your personal information?

I found the solution! I've moved most payroll to Paychex and now I only have to deal with the 'sign into your file.... now sign into your intuit account...' every second week! This isn't a complete fix of course, it will be a few more months before I can get the last few migrated over to Paychex, but once that is done I can uninstall quickbooks and this foolishness will be fixed for good. Hope this helps. FWIF - you can actually use any other payroll provider and this will still fix it for you.

THIS WORKS! I was able to bypass the online login with ALT+F4 only after going to the 'send an email reminder' screen (which wouldn't let me send an email reminder..). At the choose login type screen it would just not close.

Intuit is asking me to log in but it won't give me the option to log in.  That page won't go away and it won't allow me to click anywhere on it to tell it who I am.  What do I do?

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Welcome to the Community, Anne0508.

When your QuickBoosk Desktop Login window displays, you'll see fields for User Name and Password. There should also be an I forgot my password option and a few selectable buttons (OK, Cancel, and Help).

I've included an image showing what the sign in screen looks like:

Since you're not seeing any way to log in, I'd recommend closing QuickBooks and reopening it to see if the same problem occurs.. In the event it continues, please take a screenshot and post it in a reply so I can see what you're seeing. This will help me to better analyze the situation and see what troubleshooting options there are.

I've included a detailed resource about working with Intuit accounts which may come in handy moving forward: Change, manage or update your account with CAMPs

I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you. Have a great day!

You are still getting the message to install an update that was already downloaded before you turned the automatic updates off. You could try going to the "downloads" folder and deleting the update file, assuming it's in "downloads" and not the QB directory. Not sure if that will solve the problem, but it's where I would start,

Whether Intuit has a legal right to make this change would be up to a court to decide based on a totality of issues starting with the user end license by which we all use the software. From Intuit's perspective they are assering that right leaving it to another to bring a challenge in court. Of course they rely on the proposition that very few of use have the time or resources to take them on in court. A class action might be possible. However, it would be up to a user to convince a law firm that it would be worth their time to form a class by advertizing for others to join in to bring a class action lawsuit. That's a pretty tall order considering that most class action are brought because there is the possibility of a large dollar settlement.

Congratulations on getting to talk to the people who are actually responsible for the product rather than those who just reiterate the company's position. And, thanks for posting what you found.

As to whether they will really resolve the "log in to Intuit" issue in a forthcoming update I'm not convinced. And, since I have no faity in Intuit actually responding to users issues I have no intention of applying any update from Intuit unless it's an update to remove the "log in" by removing it, and absolutely no other change and that this is guaranteed by Intuit. I would rather deal with the via Alt-F4 forever than to have Intuit make other unknown changes that suits Intuit.

That is the question I would like the answer to as well.

The only possible answer I can come up with is that Intuit will start limiting the number of company files you can have on one license.  For example, we have several LLC that each have their own QB file but the same owner.

This is SUCH a pain to have to login for each one.  It also feels like an invasion of privacy.

I have looked at other accounting software the problem is Intuit has a pretty decent product at a fair price (maybe not going forward) that no one else has been able to compete with.  I do not want to use a cloud server.

For the time being I am putting up with the invasion, but will keep looking for a new accounting product.

This is a lie. Don't make claims about the law unless you're 100% certain. In this case, you are LYING to sell software.

What Law are you referring to?

Also, QuickBooks is accounting software, it's necessary to have the credentials like the user and the password in compliance with the law. You can select the option Remind me in 7 days to stop you from logging into the account.

I agree. There should be a way to set up a master account, like a Managing partner, for the various 'company' accounts that I manage. It is a nuisance to paste in a password every account. For that matter, sometimes the accounts open with out the sign in and sometimes they dont.  The best solution would be a preference in users and passwords to turn the darn thing off.

Are you a robot? This DOES NOT stop the CONSTANT annoying interruption to log into your Intuit Account.  But after 20 years you still cannot get your programmers to figure out how to print more than 41 characters as a vendor name on a laser check?  WILL SOMEONE PLEASE DEVELOP AN ALTERNATIVE TO THIS CRAP PROGRAM THAT USED TO BE GREAT!!!!!

IF you have the accountant's version - QuickBooks Premier - do what I do - which is true MOST of the time - you can select "I am the accountant working on my client's file" and it doesn't bother you for some time.  Then you just repeat the process.  Now, this works for 2021 and earlier.  I haven't loaded 2022 yet. I shudder to think all this subscription based stuff.  It just sounds like a MESSSSSSSSSSS.

Thanks so much for the suggestion, but I just checked and I have the Deluxe version.  If they don't fix the issue soon though, I may consider upgrading...but feels like rewarding the for bac behavior<g>!
