I apparently need some training on the new Square app integration with Qb.

Since the new upgrade tot he Square app on Quickbooks, I can no longer easily match each transaction to it's deposit.   I'd like to get connected with someone who's actually knowledgeable about how the 2 (Qb & Square) communicate who can give me some training on it.

Hi there, thatsarachick.

Allow me to share some information about connecting Square with QuickBooks Online.

When you connect Square to QuickBooks Online, it will automatically import your Square sales invoices, taxes, tips, and discounts. Here's an article that you might find helpful in learning more about connecting QBO to Square: Connect your QuickBooks Online to Square.

The square app is a third-party application that can be integrated with QuickBooks Online (QBO). That said, it is best to contact their support for further tips and recommendations.

I recommend visiting this article that will help you in categorizing and assigning your downloaded bank transactions.

I'll hear you out if you have any other concerns regarding your apps or processes in QuickBooks. Just reply here and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

@thatsarachick

It's a free connector app and I'm not sure they'd bother offering any onboarding sessions for users. You can consider a paid connector app for better support.

Leizy... my issues aren't with Square. I've contacted BOTH Square AND Qb help. Neither can answer the questions I have. I've spent HOURS
on hte phone with them with no success. I understand how the cash transactions get imported although I'm really unhappy with the change Qb made
to that process in the recent update. (Previously, they came in and I could just click "match" on the deposit, it would bring up transactions & I'd match.
NOW... I have to go into all the imported transactions from Square, in the app, and "Accept" each one. I tried accepting them all at once but I get an error
with no explanation. The most I can "accept" at a time are one day's worth. So, it literally took HOURS to accept all the ones I was behind on).
Now, I think I can go ahead & match those cash transactions to the cash deposits..
The bigger issue is how the credit transactions get imported and categorized in Qb. Specifically, how the square fees are now getting routed, AND
that I'm am making a payment on a loan from Square and so a percentage of every sale goes towards that. I can't seem to find how those are getting into
Qb (or if they are) and how to make sure everything is getting into it's proper account.
Sooo.... I'm assuming it's just lack of knowledge on my part but since not even the Qb help people can answer those questions, I'm hoping there's a true
expert out there who can help me navigate this.

I’ve got some information to share with you about QuickBooks and Square app integration, @thatsarachick.

When importing data to QuickBooks Online, the program depends on the information shared by your third-party application. This means QuickBooks depends on what details Square shares.

You’ll want to check your integration preferences. This way, transactions download the way you want them to be. Please know that QuickBooks can't import details from Square banking products, including checking account purchases and loan payments. The app doesn’t import money out transactions from a Square Card. To add these transactions to your books, you can download them in a CSV file from Square and upload the file to QuickBooks.

You can use these resources to learn how the app works with QuickBooks:

If the same things happen, you may consider contacting our support again. They can help you match these entries successfully.

Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select the Help (?) menu.
  3. In the Assistant window, type in “Talk to a human” in the field.
  4. Enter your brief concern then go to the Contact option.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

Once everything is good, you can reconcile your account to ensure the amounts match your actual bank statements. The article includes steps to modify completed reconciliations and fixes.

Keep me posted if you need additional assistance in managing your transactions. The Community always has your back. Take care!

I too am having issues with the new Connect to Square app.  I just spent 2 hours with support, and was directed to a known issue (INV-72232) where the Connect to Square app is only intermittently pulling in CC transactions from Square.  Some days show cc transactions, others don't.  In my case this has been going on since at least May 9, and making a mess out of my last 2 months of books.  I don't know if anyone can help with this, but thought I would try to make others aware of the issue.

@thatsarachick did you get a resolution to this? I too have a square loan and i have spent in excess of 4 hours trying to ADD app transactions - keep getting errors and it is no doubt 20 times longer than the previous Match options -

have you found any solution that isnt as manual?

Thanks

Trish

Free apps offer limited functionality. You should explore paid apps to better reconcile your Square transactions.

IMO it's hard for me to classify the official QBO/Square integration app as "free" when I'm paying good money to the companies on both sides of it.  QBO and Square both have a pretty good incentive to try to keep their customers.  But curious to know about other paid options?

As an additional option, use the trial version for backup restore app before you connect it.
