I want to 'update' my inventory -- I specifically want to import an Excel file (or similar) to load in the values from a year-end physical inventory. Is there a way? What I've seen so far say, "No."

Unfortunately the No answer you found is the correct one. you can not import an adjustment

Thank you.

Are you sure? Because in QBO you can import a file with quantities, and adjustment is created if quantity is different
yes I am sure
I am surprised. I'd think it's an easy thing to do.
I prefer it this way, it makes you actually think about what you are doing, just too easy to mess up a spreadsheet for import. And since you should only be doing this kind of thing periodically throughout the year it is just not that big a deal to me
You can import inventory adjustment transactions. One way using an IIF file created by our BRC IIF Transaction Creator Pro
Note that you do need to calculate the adjustment you want to import, as there is no way to import something that will automatically adjust the inventory to a specific qty.

ok from now on I will caveat my statements with "not without investing in a third party utility"
