Can someone send me an example of the excel spreadsheet used to import inventory items.? I have a retail business and need to add inventory.  What information do you use in the spreadsheet so it will properly import  excel spreadsheet into quickbooks?

It's good to see you posting today, mdipaolo!

QuickBooks Online has a downloadable sample file with inventory item information. You can use that as a reference, and you can also replace the items and use the file to upload inventories. I'll walk you through the steps.

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Import data.
  2. Select Products and Services.
  3. Click Download a sample file.
  4. Find the downloaded file on your computer and open it.
  5. If it's in PROTECTED VIEW, click the Enable Editing button.
  6. Delete the cell that says, "Do not import this file as is. Update the sample data..." before saving the file.

You can follow the first few steps above to upload items. I'm also including this article that contains more information about managing inventory items for your reference: Set up and track your inventory in QuickBooks Online.

You can always reply on this thread if you need help as you go through the process. Enjoy the rest of the day!

You don't need a conversion program to import your Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, viking. I'll guide you on how.

The system supports Excel or CSV files for import. It means that you can save your Excel sheet and then upload it to QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Gear icon, then Import Data.
  3. Select the data you want to import (Products and Services or Vendors).
  4. Tap on Browse, then select your file.
  5. Follow the onscreen pop-ups to proceed.

To know more about bringing lists or data to our system, you can review the resources from these links:

On the other hand, I'm adding this article for more tips while managing your inventory entries: Set up and track your inventory in QuickBooks Online.

If you have other concerns while importing your vendor lists and inventory items, let me know by leaving a comment below. I'm always here to provide additional assistance. Have a good one!
