Your tag is QB Online. Do you need to convert a QBD Mac file to QBO?
Can you open the sample file on QBD Mac?
I have a QuickBooks online account for myself. The question is, I have a Mac DESKTOP QuickBooks app for another company and I cannot get the app to open it crashes every time the fix online is to download a QuickBooks tool hub, but it has a file extension of EXE, which will not work on a Mac, so my question is, is there a Mac QuickBooks tool hub
I personally have QuickBooks online. I am calling for a second company and we are using a desktop. Mac version. I cannot open QuickBooks at all. I get a crash code every single time. I understand that if I want to fix this, I need to download the QuickBooks to hub but Mac computers do not open EXE files
I have tried to open QuickBooks desktop on a Mac over and over and over again with crashes every single time for the last 24 hours, and now all of a sudden it opens?
Welcome to the Community space, Rocky.
QuickBook Tool Hub isn't available on MAC. But, let me show you what we can do to fix this.
Here's how:
Once done, remove PLIST Files from both the User and System. This will ensure that all data are free from any kind of errors. You can follow the steps below on how to perform this:
Delete User PLIST files
Delete System PLIST Files
That’s it! Restart Quickbooks and you will be surprised to see that you are no longer facing the crashing problem.

Mine crashes every time I open a company, then click Make General Journal Entries. The window opens for a couple seconds the shuts down and Crash Catcher opens but then won't create and email to report the problem. I went through all of the steps recommended, ending with moving PLIST files to the trash, then emptying the trash. The same problem persists. Is there a fix for this please?
Brian, my QB for Desktop 2019 for Mac crashes every time I open a Company, then click on Make General Journal Entries. The window opens for a couple seconds then QB shuts down and Crash Catcher opens, but won't send an email to report the issue. I went through all of the steps you outlined, finishing with the deletion of the PLIST files and emptying of the trash. Nothing has changed, It still behaves the same way. Is there a different fix for this? Thanks.
Thanks for joining us in the thread, @bobellison. I understand the urgency of this matter, and I'm here to help.
QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) crashes are usually associated with issues concerning the software itself, conflicts with other computer programs, or compatibility problems.
Since you've already updated your QBDT for Mac version 2019 and performed the steps recommended by my colleague, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Please refer to this article for the detailed steps: Reinstall QuickBooks for Mac using clean install.
When this doesn't work, and if available, I suggest installing the software on other devices with installed macOS X v10.12 (Sierra) or later.
Just a heads up, since we no longer support QBDT Mac version 2019, it's best to refer to an IT expert. Also, please ensure to create a backup copy of your company file before performing the installation or reinstallation process.
In case you consider converting your company file to Windows, you may refer to this article as a guide: Move QuickBooks for Mac file to QuickBooks for Windows.
We're always here should you have further updates on troubleshooting the software. Take care.
Which MacOS do you run?
I’m running Sonoma 14.0
QBD 2019 can't run on Sonoma 14.0
Make sure to upgrade to the last release (i.e Sonoma 14.1)
Many thanks. I will try that and I hope it's that simple. Fingers crossed!
4Gal, I can't thank you enough for your suggestion to simply load the latest version of Sonoma. I finally had time to let my MacBook do that overnight, and voila! The problem is solved. Have a great Christmas, New Year's and 2024!
