Join nowI have followed all the steps and I am at the point where I open the Migration Tool and find the xml file. When I open the tool this is what I see. I have uninstalled and re-installed the migration tool, and I get the same results. I was online chatting, but after 15 minutes of identifying myself and declaring that was my only problem, I was told it would require a screen share and 20 minutes to go through the process. Surely not! Has anyone else encountered this issue with migration?
I'll assist you in migrating QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop, Yogi.
Could you please confirm which version of QuickBooks Desktop you are using? You might be using an outdated version or a Mac. Please note that we can move data for Windows. Providing further details would assist me in offering an accurate troubleshooting solution to resolve the prompt message that appears when opening the Migration tool.
In addition, I'm adding this article for the step-by-step guide on the conversion process: Move your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
I'll be around and be sure to look forward to your reply. Thank you!
Which QB Desktop year version do you have? Have you tried using QB Desktop 2021?
I am using desktop for Accountants 2022. I can follow the steps but when I open the migration tool, the display message is cut off and there are no scroll bars. All I can see is Browse to find the HTML and enter it; the rest of the visible words overwrite each other, no buttons
I have not tried 2021. Why would that be different?
QB Desktop 2021 is more stable for converting data.
Thank you for the explanation. However, my current roadblock is the way the display appears once I open the Migration Tool. I will start all over and try to work with 2021, but I am not optimistic.
Last resort, purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
This is ridiculous.
Hello there, @Yogi.
I can see the urgency of resolving the issue when using the Migration Tool to move from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop. What we can do right now is to contact our support team since they have the right tool and expertise that can help you fix this issue surfacing on the tool. To do so, here's how:
Please know that for Pro, Premier, and Plus, the support hours are from Monday-Friday 6 AM to 6 PM. For Enterprise you can contact us anytime, any day.
It's important to note that some data won't export back to QuickBooks Desktop. Check out this article for more details on these limitations: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.
I'll be around if you need a hand on this. Keep me posted if you have any further questions.
I am at my wits end here. I have been online with support (for the third time), and that tech finally gave me a phone number he said was specifically for migration to OL. I asked him to confirm that this would help me with migration to desktop, and he confirmed. That number took me to an auto response system that kept asking me to confirm I was migrating from desktop to OL; since I could not and tried to request a live person, I was given to option to wait on a call back. Finally got a call back, and this guy wanted me to open my company in OL and export lists to Excel. Totally not what I asked for. When I told him about the set of instructions I was given originally, he had to take time to go look at them. We shared a screen, and I showed him that I had performed all the steps but was stymied at the missing Import Button from the Intuit Migration tool itself! At that point he said he could not help me but was emailing me some FAQs. These were completely worthless, a patronizing move at best. I have wasted a day and a half, and I am too frustrated to work at all now. Someone should send this crapstorm all the way to the top. Forgive me.
This may be part of their hidden policy. They make it difficult to purchase new QB Desktop licenses and not bother with the conversion tool any longer. Getting help from a third-party vendor is the last option you have if you want to stick with QB Desktop.
I found two third-party apps online, and neither seems acceptable. Price is high at $199 per year, when constant access is not relevant, and user ratings are 2 out of 5 and less. Suggestions welcome, although it seems inappropriate to mention non-Intuit products in this setting.
I feel that support's approach of non-assistance in tandem with their feigned befuddlement, whether designed or not, is less than ethical. That they provide a tool that does not work properly and that some support techs seem to be unaware of is concerning. I feel they are denying me access to and control of MY work and data, and they have no right.
You know, at the end of my last long conversation with support, the tech actually asked me the standard programmed question: Have I resolved your issue? My negative response of NO was a bit loud. He dared ask? Have a nice day, Intuit.
You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA to convert your data. Their fees start at $175 for the current fiscal year + 1 historical year. They may also offer a refund option if you are not satisfied with the result
