How can I move Estimate. Invoice, Payment, Deposit FROM the Parent into the correct Job? These transactions are sitting in the Parent and I need to move them to the Job (which is sitting under the Parent without any transactions)
I tried creating a new Customer/Parent and dragging the original parent to the the right under the new Parent - but says "You cannot change the sublevel of an item unless the list is in its original order. CLick on the list's "diamond" column header to return the list to it's original order." - it is the Parent so there is no space to move further.
is there a way to get the transactions to the job? or make parent a job? or merge the two to make a job? please help
thanks

Hi there, gaterbate!
I appreciate your effort in trying to move the transactions under a parent customer to its job. Creating a new parent profile and making the original a sub-customer can actually work. When doing this, you'll want to name the new profile in a way that QuickBooks will place it at the top of the original. This way, you can drag the diamond icon of the original parent to the right, making it a job of the new profile.
I made a sample where the original parent is Allen Barns and the new parent Allen Barns New. I dragged the diamond icon of the original to the right to make it a job of Allen Barns New.
You can rename the profiles later on and inactivate the original job to have a neater list of customers and jobs. Inactivating a profile can be done by double-clicking it and putting a checkmark in the Job is inactive box and then clicking OK in the next window.
On the other hand, feel free to check out some articles for QuickBooks Desktop on the main support page or press F1 while in QuickBooks and search for the topics you like.
I'm just a comment away if you need further assistance with your lists or anything about QuickBooks. Have a good one!

similar but different issue now....I dragged a job to a parent and it became a parent with several (unrelated) jobs under it. How do I fix it where it is a sub under a parent and not a parent with jobs under it?
I'll guide you in fixing this, gaterbate.
Using the Diamond icon, you can drag the job back to its original parent. Take note that unrelated sub-jobs will also be included once you move the parent job. To get rid of them, you'll have to drag the unrelated jobs to the correct parent again or make them inactive as needed. Take a look at my screenshot below:
I've also included an article that will help track how much money you spend and make for each job: Track job costs in QuickBooks Desktop.
Keep me posted if you have any other concerns or additional questions. I've got you covered.
