No date restriction on changin of definition

Scenario:

I started with assemblies with sub-assemblies only to realize that this creates 5 to 6 posts per build as we need to first create all sub-assemblies.

After a year, I decided to simply put all stock items of all subs in the main reducing the builds to be done to a single build, speeding up the posting tremendously.

While receiving the hand-over from the accountant who is leaving the company, we realized that a bunch of movements in stock items (damages etc) were never posted.

These were posted, creating shortages in stock items for sub-assemblies, thus pushing those to pending builds and thus pushing main assemblies into pending as well.

When we remove the main assemblies from pending, we get the notice that the definition has changed... yet that change was done much later than the date of building those assemblies. So now we get fresh stock deductions as per the new definition and the sub-assemblies are just there, occupying stock items, thus causing all kind of shorts.

There should be a date-restriction on changes of definitions so everything before the change stays the same. We are now facing over 1,000 assemblies that require un-builds to return the stocks.

Or we need a mass-unbuild for builds under one stock-assembly item.

I agree that adding date restrictions when changing the definition would help you. This way, you'll know what happens before proceeding with the next steps.

Click Help at the top menu bar.
Select Send Feedback Online. Then, click Product Suggestion.
Enter description. Then, Send Feedback.

In the meantime, we'll have to unbuild them manually. Still, you can consult an accountant if you need further assistance as you go along with the process.

Took out 2 days to clear it all up, am back on track now. There is a minor cut off when removing the pending, the system will ask if you want to update to new or stay old.

Still, I think there should be a better way to prevent the mixing up.

I've also noticed... this is weird... if you don't have stock of the old sub-assemblies, you can't change to the new format. So you first have to ensure stock as per old format is sufficient, then change to new, then delete the old builds again...
