If I am a disregarded entity (one member) LLC, can I use QuickBooks Self-Employed or do I need to have QuickBooks Online?

Thanks,

Josue

It depends on what you're filing for as an LLC and how you operate your business. QuickBooks Self-Employed is built for individuals filing the Schedule C form. The Online version is meant for businesses and individuals with complex needs.

As an additional note, once you are ready opening a new account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 3 months. If you purchase from the Trial account, you have to pay the regular rate.

I currently have self-employed quickbooks version. My CPA recommended me upgrading. I attempted to upgrade on my phone, as I use the mobile version.  How can I get the upgraded version and transfer all my information? I would like to get this done asap and as easily as possible, if it can be done.

Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community for assistance, @niedehe. Let me help you upgrade your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) subscription using a mobile phone, as suggested by your accountant.

When you upgrade your current plan to the Tax Bundle, you'll receive both apps. The TurboTax Self-Employed is intended for independent contractors and self-employed individuals. It allows you to easily send your Schedule C data to TurboTax to file your taxes.

To avoid overlapping payments, you may want to upgrade after your existing QBSE subscription expires.

Here's how:

  • Using an iPhone or iPad (iOS)
  1. Click the profile icon.
  2. Select Settings and click Subscription.
  3. Continue to swipe until we see the QuickBooks Self-Employed + TurboTax Bundle. If we don't see this option, we'll have to wait until your subscription's next renewal date. After that, we can cancel your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription and resubscribe to the Tax Bundle.
  4. When ready, click Subscribe now.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade.

  • Using a phone or tablet (Android)
  1. Click the menu ☰ icon.
  2. Select your profile icon and click Subscription.
  3. Swipe left and select Change subscription now.
  4. Click Next and follow the steps.

Once done, your QBSE sends your data directly to TurboTax Self-Employed so we can start filing your business taxes.

Furthermore, here's an article if we'll need to send data from QBSE to TurboTax Self-Employed using a different username and password: Send QuickBooks Self-Employed tax data to TurboTax Self-Employed using different sign-in info. This way, we'll have the option to keep both accounts or either one of them.

Let me know in the Reply section below if you have additional queries about upgrading your QBSE account. I'd be delighted to help. Keep safe!
