Hi Community,
today I got a random error message popping up on my desktop that seems to be QB Online related, however I was not logged in to QB when I got the error message. See attachment.
Does anybody have an idea why this pops up?
Best regards
Niklas
Hello, Niklas1.
I'll share details about the error and how to fix it. Intuit Data Protect is a backup service that works with QuickBooks. If you are subscribed to this service, you may have been signed out. This is why you're getting a popup error to re-login.
To resolve the error, let's open the Intuit Data Protect and sign in by following these steps:
Once done, you can start making new backups.

I have QB desktop accountant 2023 and intuit data protect 2024. I am the only user. 2024 QB version is available on my hp notebook. I bought a new laptop and want to use the existing QB file and existing IDP on the new computer. Should I update qb 2024 on the old laptop first, then install another copy of qb 2024 on new laptop and then take latest company file over to new laptop? Then can I just leave old laptop with qb sitting on it?
I have the information you need to address your inquiries, JuneK.
You don't have to update QuickBooks 2024 on your old laptop and install another copy on your new laptop. Instead, you can restore the backup company files in QuickBooks 2024 on the new laptop and set up Intuit Data Protect on it again to ensure future data backups.
Furthermore, if you prefer to continue using the existing QuickBooks on your old laptop, you can leave it as it is.
You can utilize a migrator tool if you transfer QuickBooks Desktop to a different computer in the future. Read this article for reference: Move or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop to another computer.
