Almost a 50% price increase in 2 years for JUST the subscription! This doesn't even include how much the price went up to process payroll!
What is going on with QB? You can't talk to anyone, ever! IF you get a person, English is NOT their primary language. For QB desktop, I paid $566 in April 2022. Paid $822 in April 2023 and NOW these crooks want $949! I am so frustrated with this slimy, greedy company! And whom am I going to talk to? How is this fair???? Can anything be done?? Anyone have any other accounting software that doesn't take advantage of people?
We have used QB for over 22 years.
2005 - QB $217.40, QB Payroll - $199.00
2024 - QB $649.00, QB Payroll - $474.00 PLUS Employee Usage Fee
- Remove the Scan Feature and INCREASE the rates!! Way to go Intuit.
These increases are absolutely ridiculous. What can be done about this?
We hear you, @BBB11 and @gwynnMVP.
I understand how the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) price increase affected you. I'll share insights about the reasons for this.
The accountants with ProAdvisor Bundles that include Enhanced Payroll for Accountants will see a price change due to the QBDT Payroll price increase. Dimond customers are excluded from payroll price changes.
We'll continue to give you advance notice of any changes we make to your pricing. The main reason for this is to help more small businesses grow and thrive-and we've declared the goal that we will improve the success rate of all small businesses on our platform by 10% over the national average by 2025.
The QuickBooks platform provides tremendous value to small businesses with access to a connected, AI-driven expert platform that gives them access to capital, banking services, payroll, payments, and more of which combined have a direct impact on improving the success rate of small businesses around the world.
Additionally, the price increase only affects the United States. We will honor any special pricing throughout the duration of the promotion. Once the promo has lapsed, you will be informed of the price increase.
At this time, there's no added cost based on the number of EINs managed by each subscription. The price increase aren't tied to a calendar schedule. All customers impacted by a price change are notified by email.

You are using QB Desktop Premier Plus for single user, correct?
How many employee do you have?
I'm in Canada and I received the price increase notice
Ridiculous! Where is my value added for this increase?? NONE
I love QBDT, I know it....I love it....but I can't believe the money grab over recent years.
$4 per employee???? why?? how does it cost you more for me to have a few extra employees????
Disgusting
and QBO - terrible! Make some serious changes and I MIGHT consider switching. Make it EXACTLY the same as Desktop and I MIGHT be on board
You are screwing up QBs....One of these days you will lose a lot of very loyal customers!
You can use QB Desktop Canada with a non subscription license + a 3rd party payroll app. You can register payroll expenses as JE in QB Desktop. Another option, use the trial version to access your historical data for good in QB Desktop ans start from scratch in a new program to lower your conversion costs.
There is no justification for a 400%+ price increase! $15 to $65 a month?!?!?!?!? I've been a customer since you first began. Your price increases forced me from desktop to online last year (which I TOTALLY HATE), and now you are forcing me out completely. I am SO DISAPPOINTED in YOU. I have touted your greatness for decades, but no more.
After many, many years of using and recommending Quickbooks (Desktop wherever possible, QBO not for anyone who needs to do serious reporting), this latest price increase emailed today has got me searching for alternatives.
They claim they're doing this to "support small businesses" -- what they're doing is putting their software out of reach of small businesses. My clients aren't going to bite on what I'll have to charge them just to purchase the annual subscription for desktop. I'll let you know what I find as I search.
QBO is absolutely non-functional in terms of what I do for my clients (lots of non-profit reporting that simply can't be done -- it's hard enough in QBD!).
I've recommended and helped train many, many people on QBD. No more.
If you are using QB Desktop with subscription licenses, you can use the trial version to access your historical data for good later. Then you will start from scratch in another program to lower your conversion costs.
Thank you. I would be grateful to hear what your research uncovers.
How are you helping small businesses by jacking the price up and refusing to provide adequate, trained tech support? This answer makes absolutely no sense. I don't know how you sleep at night, shoveling that kind of manure at people.
There should be a :"Boo-Hiss" button.
It’s companies like Quockbooks that are responsible for 40% of inflation since the pandemic began. Corporations increasing their prices exponentially like this is corrupted and unethical.
WHY??????? Service is so Incredibly bad lately??? How and WHY?? Seriously
Yeah, today's email about the rate increase AGAIN was the final straw for me. Software and companies are pathetic with this constant increase every 6-12 months. Always for nothing that demands it, nor should be added without our permission and a separate pay tier ONLY if wanted.
"We've improved our service and software"
- Yeah right, so why do I still get notifications on a Quickbooks Community post that started in March of 2022 about STILL not being able to connect an Apple credit card? Dozens of Quickbook employees copy/pasting stock replies though about how "they are looking into it".
Just got an email that my qbo is going to increase from $31.98 to $65 PER MONTH? Tired of getting nickeled and dimed and will be leaving asap.
Convert your data to QB Desktop and use the trial version to access your historical data for good. They you will start in a new app from scratch to lower your conversion costs.
Thank you so much for this tip! I didn't know how I was going to do that.
Ugh so frustrating when I just spent the last year learning QBO. Oh well.
I am not sure how to do what you are recommending? I continue to use QB Desktop since QB Online has had terrible reviews. I am tired of the price increases from Intuit - with less features. Very frustrating.
Which recommendation?
"Convert your data to QB Desktop and use the trial version to access your historical data for good. They you will start in a new app from scratch to lower your conversion costs."

I already have QB Desktop. How does that work with the new app?
You can check this one
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
The rate increases are absolutely horrible. I actually shared screenshots of the rate increases on my Instagram account with 15,000 followers. I cannot tell you how many people were disgusted by this. Many question why I still continue to stick with QuickBooks. I think that I am done at this point after being with QuickBooks since 2006. I understand that inflation is out there, but these percentages increases are just way too ridiculous. on top of that, The service is horrible now.
