Does the old QB 2.1 from the 90s have a storage limit?
This is an interesting question, are you still using a windows 95 computer with the qb software on? I'm not even sure if a back up file would convert to 2024 desktop or qb online, I guess it might.
What is storage limit?
I'm surprised you can still run a PC with Win 95 nowadays.
Yes. I am using my old Sony Vaio with Windows 95 and QB 2.1. It actually works perfectly. I wrote several invoices this weekend and printe them out. No problem. However, the invoices never registered. So, when I got on today, those were not there. I have over 15,000 invoices stored. Maybe I am at the QB memory limit.
Yes, it is still working! We bought it late 90s. Back then, modems were a 50 dollar option. We saw no reason to have a modem, so we never got one. Nothing much on line back then.
Hello there, DosDon. Allow me to join and share information about QB 2.1 on a Windows 95 computer in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
QBDT doesn't have a specific storage limit. However, larger file sizes can significantly impact performance, especially on older hardware.
Please note that QBDT has minimum system requirements to ensure optimal performance. For version 2.1 on Windows 95, these requirements are relatively modest by current standards.
For the latest system requirements, refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop 2024.
If you’re considering upgrading to a supported version in the future, we recommend reviewing these resources: Choose the QuickBooks Desktop or Online solution for you.
Keep me posted for additional questions or other concerns about the storage limit in your QBDT. I'd be more than happy to help.
Any thoughts on why it stopped registering new invoices I create? They print just fine. Then disappear!
Is there any Verify/Rebuild Data utility in your version?
Not sure. Where would I look for that?
I want to make sure you're able to save the invoices and view them, DosDon.
Once you print invoices, the system will also save the transaction you've created. Since aren't saved on your end, you can verify and rebuild your data to fix integrity issues.
Take note that the current steps listed below in might slightly differ on your end as the product you're using is very old product that and is no longer supported. Also, keep in mind that unexpected behaviors may occur as the product they're using no longer receives security updates and patches. Here's how:
Verify your company data.
Rebuild your company file data.

Where does it say Window and then Close All?
Thanks for getting back to the thread, @DosDon. I'd be glad to route you to Window and the Close All option in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
The Close All option is located in the Window menu next to the Help menu section. Please refer to the screenshot below for visual guidance:
