I am having an issue where when I start the quick books pro 2020 desktop application while connected to the internet it hangs on the screen shown in the attachment.   If I start quick books being disconnected from the internet, it starts as expected.  Please see the attachment for a screen shot of the message seen.

I appreciate the screenshot you've shared, @rm760.

There are some possible causes why your QuickBooks Desktop stops working or freezing. And I'd like to share them with you and help you get this fix so you can get to working order.

Here are several possible causes for this issue, such as:

  • Damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file.
  • Corruption on your hard drive.
  • Damaged program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation.
  • Damaged Windows operating system.

To get this fixed, let's first update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

Once done, let's run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool (QBInstall Tool). This way, it'll identify any component issues related to your QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Install DiagnosticTool.
  2. When prompted, save the file to the local Desktop.
  3. Close any open programs and run the QBInstall Tool.
  4. Restart the computer after running the tool to ensure the components are properly updated.

If you get the same result, let's check your Internet Connection Settings.

  1. Go to the Help menu, then select Internet Connection Setup.
  2. Select Use my computer's Internet connection settings to establish a connection when this application accesses the Internet
  3. Hit the Next button.
  4. Click on the Advanced Connection Settings.
  5. On the Advanced tab, select Restore Advanced Settings.
  6. Select OK then, click Done.

If the issue persists, you'll need to try other solutions provided in these articles:

Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day and stay safe.

Mark;

No joy after trying all of the solutions offered.   Running the desktop update app inside the QB application proves the app can get to the intuit software repository on the internet.  I must tell you I am getting frustrated with the pop ups that appear and reappear even though I check the box to not show again and this issue at hand.   I feel like intuit is treating my as a captive audience.   I wish there was a way to turn off the need for the product to have to connect to intuit every time.

I understand going through multiple troubleshooting steps and not having any of them work can be a real painrm760.

I appreciate you for performing the recommended solutions and providing us a screenshot. The Intuit account ID feature makes it easier for our clients to manage their connected Intuit products and services. This prompts when opening your company file and ask you to sign in using your Intuit login credentials.

For more details about this one, check out this article: Create or open a company file using your Intuit account ID

To turn off the pop-up messages in QuickBooks, we can go to Preferences Settings. Let me show you how:

  1. Click Edit on the top menu.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Select General.
  4. Tap My Preferences.
  5. Place a check-mark on the Turn off pop -up messages for products and services option.
  6. Tap OK

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can change the login settings to sign in to your company file without entering a username and password every time. You can also open the Company File or switch to another one without having to re-enter your login credentials as long as you are using the same Windows user account.

Here's how:

  1. Go back to the General settings.
  2. Tap Company Preferences.
  3. Go to Manage Login Settings section.
  4. Select Keep user logged in for: and choose the number of days showing in the list.
  5. Tap OK

Hello and thank you for the input.  I have found the settings you wrote of and and am still experiencing the hanging intuit account screen when connected to the Internet.  it does state that the sign in to the company file was successful.  Is there any way to turn off this intuit account login?

I do appreciate the steps you've performed, rm760.

These login credentials are mandatory to ensure the protection of sensitive data. It ensures that only authorized users can access your data. You can log in to it every time it prompts.

I'd also suggest reaching out to our Customer Support Team so they can look into your account if nothing happens after entering your credentials. You can use this alternative way in connecting with us.

  1. Click this link:https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop and then Continue as a guest.
  3. Click Pro or Premier as your QuickBooks Desktop version.
  4. Select the Search for something else button and enter something like login issues using Intuit Account ID.
  5. Click Search and scroll down to the page where you can see the option to Message or Call us.

Here are articles that will give you more information on why we require security logins to your company file:

My colleagues and I are always here ready to help. Take care and have a great day!
