QB Pro 21 crash

Hello there, @cdhamer.

I've come with a solution that can help fix your QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 crashing issue.

There are some possible reasons why QuickBooks crashes while doing tasks or opening the company file. Here's a list of them:

  • Your company name may be too long
  • You may have a damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file
  • You may have corruption on your hard drive
  • Your program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged
  • You may have a damaged Windows operating system

To get this resolved, let's run the Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This will help shut down any open background processes QuickBooks uses and run a quick repair on your program. Here's how:

  1. Download and install the latest QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Once done, open the QuickBooks Tool Hub and select Program Problems.
  3. Click Quick Fix my Program.
  4. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

If you get the same result, check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working.

Please let me know how the troubleshooting steps go, @cdhamer. I'll be around to provide further assistance.

You may also want to run reports on QuickBooks Desktop. This will help review your transactions and business needs.

Thanks for coming to the Community, wishing you continued success.

I tried the QuickBooks Tool Hub, no success.  Went to the article you linked on troubleshooting steps, ran the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool, no success.  Also did PC Health Check, determined up to date on my Windows 10, but my PC doesn't meet Windows 11 system requirements due to processor not supported.  Tried to rename the QBWUSER.ini file but was unable to find it?  Did a search and still unable to find.  Is my processor the problem?  Something with QB update I received June 6?  I was using QB to do my payroll, sent payroll for processing per my subscription, program looked for downloads as usual, then I logged out.  Thirty minutes later, when I tried to login, program "crashed", closed immediately.

I cannot even get into program.  It gives me the login screen, I enter infor, then program shuts down immediately.  No errors, just shuts down.

This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience when accessing QuickBooks Desktop, cdhamer.

I appreciate all the efforts that you've exhausted to get the program working.

At this time, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, we'll be able to pull up your account in a safe session and perform a series of tests to rectify the issue.

Since QuickBooks constantly crashes after opening it, you can reach out to them outside the program. To do so, I'd suggest following these steps:

  1. Go to our  Contact Us page.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop, then click Continue.
  3. Add your concern, then choose how you'd like to reach out to our support.

I also encourage checking our support hours to ensure that we address your concerns on time.

Additionally, I encourage creating a backup copy of your company files from time to time. This way, you can easily restore them anytime in case of accidental data loss.

You can always get back here in the Community if you have more questions about managing QuickBooks. I'd be glad to help you some more. Take care.

I'm having the exact same issue, and I've spent a total of 5 hours on the phone with support who finally told me they don't know how to fix it. Everything was fine until I had to upgrade QB 2019, and QB 2022 wouldn't recognize my computer as having a 64-bit processor even though it does. The workaround was installing QB Pro Plus 2021 and deleting QB 2022. It hasn't worked right from installation, and now it just loads then crashes, loads then crashes. The only thing that works occasionally, is installing all the updates (as recommended somewhere in these forums), then restarting, and if I'm lucky, it might load all the way and allow me to do some work. Once I close QB, I have to start all over again. Can't anyone fix this?

@Serafina67

QuickBooks Desktop relies heavily on Windows. If you can see a 64-bit, x64-based processor operating system in Windows settings, but QuickBooks doesn't recognize it, there's an error with your Windows OS. That's why you are also having an error while installing QB Desktop 2021.

I am having the same problem since I updated Desktop Pro 2021 yesterday.  I've ran the Hub and all that has been recommended and it still crashes after I login to any of my company files.

I've updated Windows 10, etc...and am getting frustrated as it sounds like I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Help!

@Denyel

Are you running Win 10 21H2.19044 or older version?

Can you open the sample file?

A few minutes ago, my shortcut on the dashboard to run QBD 2021 Premier was broken and the error was silly because the QBW32PremierGenereic.exe file was missing. We did the same thing by clicking the same shortcut a few hours ago and QB Desktop 2021 run normally. I looked for the filename in the QB Desktop 2021 folder and ran it manually. On the screen I noticed a message box saying that Windows is updating QuickBooks with a progress bar. A few minutes later, I can open any file in my QBD 2021. I'm not sure what really happened.

Hi there,

I'm running Win10 21H1.[removed].

I ended up uninstalling Quickbooks completely and then reinstalling the original version again without the latest upgrade.  It's working the way it was before and not crashing when trying to login to files.

...not sure what to do know as far as updating in the future.

Hi there,

I'm running Win 10 Pro 21H1.[removed].

I did not try opening the sample file, as I was getting frustrated with of my time spent.  I totally uninstalled Quickbooks and reinstalled my original 2021 Pro version without doing the update.  All is working as it was before without issue.

Not sure what to do know as far as the update(s) moving forward...as of now I will select to not do them.

Yes I have it working, but will it just do the same thing if I agree to the update...and any moving forward?
