Yea, but it also says "QuickBooks 2023 won't support Windows 8.1 and can’t be installed on it." Server 2012 R2 is technically Windows 8.1, so it's very confusing lol.
Raven17's fix works!! Yesterday, I spent literally over 8 straight hours on the phone with QB Enterprise support trying to fix what their update broke. I have Enterprise 23 running on my Windows server 2012R2 and the R12_22 update broke QuickBooks where I was getting "Something's Not Right..." error. Then Enterprise would close with the "send error report" window whenever I would click to run payroll or even click help to try to call QB. QB support was ZERO help. All they wanted to do was to blame my server. Thank God for Raven17 and the link they posted. I removed my broken version via add/remove programs, rebooted our server, downloaded and ran the link for the previous version which Raven17 posted and now we're back in business and our employees can get paid for the holiday weekend THANK YOU Raven17 (and shame on you, Intuit)!

I just spent weeks with Data Services - rebuilding the data was actually corrupting my file further. After weeks of this, one tech figured out that Multi-user hosting needs to be turned off and cache needs to be set to unlimited before a rebuild to avoid corruption if the file has ever had any of this specific error (text chaining error maybe? I don't remember what it was called, but something like that).
Has anyone on Server 2012 R2 tried the most recent Quickbooks Desktop Update version R13 released 4 days ago to see if it corrects the error/crashing when going to the Employees screen or anything to do with payroll? We also have had the same issue after upgrading from our previous R9 version to R11. Thankfully in a multi-user environment you can do payroll, etc on one of the other workstations that has Quickbooks installed as long as it is an admin. This is ridiculous that Intuit would drop support for an OS that they initially supported when QBDT 2023 came out! Unacceptable business practices, especially when it comes to software support. Don't say you support something and then cut that out in the same version. Support it for the life of that version which is the typical 3 year window on Quickbooks versions.
I see how this issue affects you with QuickBooks Desktop when accessing the Employees screen or anything related to payroll, thealt335. I'm here to assist you with that.
The current version of QuickBooks is encountering challenges on Server 2012 because this specific version of Windows is no longer supported. Microsoft discontinued support for Server 2012 on October 10, 2023.
To narrow down the issue, it is crucial to install Server 2016 or a later version, as Microsoft currently supports these. By doing so, you will have access to our latest bug fixes and security patches, which can help resolve the problem. For more information about the discontinuation of the Server versions, refer to this article: Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 reaching end of support.
I'm adding this article to help you check the System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023. This article contains info about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
Please let me know if you require further assistance or have additional questions regarding the compatibility version. I'm more than happy to help you. Have a great day!
Nope, I haven't tried updating again. It's working on R11, and don't really believe they fixed anything. If you find out it does though please let us know!
AileneA - In typical QB Support style, you didn't answer TheAlt335's question. Instead, you supplied the canned answer of, "The ToolHub fixes everything" which is not true. TheAlt335 asked if the latest patch will fix the confirmed issue where customers running Enterprise with Windows Server 2012R2 receive errors and crashes after the last QB update. I have several customers running Windows Server 2012R2 and Enterprise and could no longer use their Enterprise after the last update. After MANY hours on the phone with QB support, to no avail, I installed an older version of QB to get my customers up and running again. Unfortunately, they are now being forced to upgrade because QB only lets them use the older version for so long before forcing an upgrade. So now, I, like many other QB customers running Windows Server 2012R2, would like you to answer the question that TheAlt335 asked, WILL THE LATEST PATCH FIX THE ISSES WHICH THE LAST PATCH CREATED?

Hi thealt335 - we were hoping the latest update would fix this issue, but no luck. The only answers we get from Intuit in this forum seem to come from bots giving canned answers that don't relate to the actual issue.
I have no faith that it will ever be fixed, so we were forced to purchase a new server, so we can update out of Windows Server 2012.
I would seriously stay away from any iteration of QB that is not online at this point. Writing is on the wall that they are forcing on premise users to switch. Just unfortunate for those of us who have integrations with custom 3rd party apps.
Seamless usage of QuickBooks is essential for tracking and managing your company, ARamirez8, Empty199, thealt335, and Wrangler Tron. I acknowledge that encountering some problems could impact your business operations.
To provide clarifications, the latest release of QuickBooks is experiencing issues on Server 2012 because that version of Windows is no longer supported. Microsoft ceased support last October of 2023, and there are third-party components associated with QuickBooks that depend on more current versions of Windows.
In order to continue using QuickBooks smoothly, I recommend installing Server 2016 or later to ensure compatibility between QuickBooks and your devices' system. For more information about the Server version discontinuation, kindly review this link: Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 reaching end of support.

Ivan, why would Intuit support Windows Server 2012 R2 when they released QBDT/E but not now? Pulling support on an operating system mid cycle of a QB version seems unethical in my opinion. I understand Msoft pulled security updates on Server 2012 R2 but Intuit really needs to follow through and support it for the normal 3 year cycle. It was working just fine in the February release. Revert the backend change that was made.
Thank you for letting us know this after 32 days.
Is it typical that QuickBooks sends updates out to break unsupported operating systems with no warnings to the end users? You really should have some logic built into the update process that says "If operating system = Windows Server 2012 and QuickBooks Version = 2023 then DO NOT UPDATE and DISABLE update service.
You walk into the bank one day to take money out, and you're told "Sorry you need to update your debit card or find your old one laying around somewhere to take money out. We have the old one laying around our office somewhere that would fix your problem, but we recommend you go look in trash cans and bars for it. We knew this would happen, but we did not warn anyone because...well...not sure why."
Yeah all I ask is that they give a proper heads up (preferably 6 months at a minimum) if they are not going to support a certain OS. Or better, support the OS through the life cycle of the product that you originally said would support that OS.
This started happening for version 2022 as of last patch too.
Can anyone link Desktop 2022 release 15 (r15_28)?
Regards
Took me 10 minutes to reverse engineer the link, but here you go
Thanks brother. I gave it a few shots at reverse engineering but couldn’t make sense of the seemingly randomized characters at the end and gave up after a few tries.
Your effort is appreciated. Saved me a painful call to Intuit support.
Sorry to be bothersome, but could you also post the link for Desktop? Or explain the link construction?
Edit: Nvm. Think I got it: https://dlm2.download.intuit.com/akdlm/SBD/QuickBooks/2022/nctqf0a84US_R15/QuickBooksProSub2022.exe
PPS I had to use r14 for 22 as 15 was still crashing.
Just change 15 to 14 in the above URL.
Glad you figured it out! Basically, these are the steps I did.
