After backing up my company file, and then using restore company file to move Quickbooks to a new computer, my saved filings are gone from my payroll section. My eFiles are still there. How can I make the saved quarterly filings move over as well?
Hi there, AllDr2.
I'm here to share information about restoring QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) backup files.
The saved quarterly files for a company file are stored outside of the company file in a folder. You can use the keyword QBW file to locate the folder.
Here's how:

This isn't working for me. I am moving my company file to another computer. I have installed the program and have used the restore function to transfer over. If I try to search for the keyword QBW and hit enter, it automatically opens my QuickBooks program. I then tried to use This PC and the search bar to the right upper screen. I end up with about 10 items that end in .qbw, but I can only open one by clicking and that is the QuickBooks program again. All the rest when clicked direct me to look for an app in the Microsoft store to open the file. I am surprised and disappointed that it is so difficult to locate files that should be included in the program itself when transferred.
I am still unable to locate these files. I followed your advice, but when I search for keyword qbw and hit enter, it automatically opens the QuickBooks program. So I tried going to This PC and using the search bar in the upper right corner. When I type in qbw, it shows me multiple files, but all but the program itself need an app from the Microsoft store to open. Do you know exactly what file I am supposed to search for? I am surprised and disappointed that it is so difficult to access my files that should have been included in the transfer and on the program itself.

I'm here to share additional information about locating your quarterly filings.
The saved quarterly files are stored in folders under your company file folder. Technically, they're saved outside of the company file that you've restored. Since you're restoring it in a different location or PC, they won't be accessible unless you take extra steps.
You can go to that restored file and find other folders in it that contain your payroll tax forms. Check out this article for more information about restoring your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
Refer to this article on how to resolve errors you'll encounter when restoring a backup copy of your company file in QuickBooks Desktop: Get help with Error: Failed or Error: Restore Failed.
