Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

No where in my help comes up a contact us!  I have used the ALT key and that appears to be helping at the moment. Not sure!  When will a fix be created for R5?

Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

With the suggestion from Firebird2600, I was able to open one of my company files that has never opened without crashing since QuickBooks released their R5 version. Great detective work Firebird2600. Now that the root cause has been identified, QuickBooks Support, please let us know when Intuit will be creating an update to fix the problem that is causing so many QuickBooks desktop users to crash regularly. Since it is quite apparent that this issue has never been an issue with the company files or systems of the individual consumers of QuickBooks but instead an issue with QuickBooks desktop itself, it would be appreciated if Intuit would acknowledge the issue and treat this as a priority to fix the QuickBooks desktop issue. Please let us know the planned delivery date.

if what @A1elect  is saying works, then this is irrefutable proof the problem is indeed the IE11 "replacement" Intuit has been working on, and all that "clear your cookies" mumbo jumbo they've been telling us this past month is them just trying to divert from their mistake.

Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

This is the response I sent to the Data Services person who tried to help me... hopefully she sent it off to the "higher ups" but, who knows?

>Doing a screen share to check a few things out to continue to try to resolve this issue will be a waste of time so let’s not bother because, it looks like I have determined as to what the issue is. I have already mentioned this multiple times via QB chat but, alas, here we are….

Doing another Google search, this time adding “Quickbooks 2022” to the search, netted a new result for me, a result with many people having the EXACT issue I’ve been having since…. I have updated the program to the latest version, R5!

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/quickbook-desktop-2022-crashing-an...

Another IT guy posted:

Im an IT consultant and I'd say about half of my customers that use QB2022 Plus are getting this crashing issue (about 8 different businesses at different locations) so it is definitely an issue with R5 and not a lone case situation. One of them though got a yellow warning about a HTMLHelper Module, which caused a "Quickbooks Unrecoverable Error" (none of the other customers gave me an error, they just crashed and closed all apps that were open at the moment), so I had to quickly click on it before the error showed up and Run the add-on. That at least stopped the Unrecoverable Error message; but it makes me think this is all caused by the proprietary browser Intuit is using to replace Internet Explorer 11.

So, we can now come to the (FINAL) conclusion and say there is nothing wrong with my company file but with the latest update with QB causing these crashing issues! It may not be crashing on your end because you may be using a different version all together. That “Home Window” in QB is, in fact, a browser within QB, which was most likely using IE as the backbone for it to function. Since IE is no longer supported, an updated (R5) needed to be released to go back to QB’s internal browser engine, whatever that may be….This is why, when I hold [Alt] to “suppress” the company file, which pretty much prevents the Home “browser” Window from loading, I have no other issues…

So, until Intuit releases another update, which may take another month or so, the workaround is to just hold the [Alt] key before opening the company file. Heck, for now, maybe Intuit should release a small patch to disable the “Home Window” from starting up for now, which may resolve a lot of other customer’s issues.

We can now mark my Data Services case# 1583351650 as closed. I’d say we should open another case, called “The R5 Update Crashes QB 2022,” but, I’m sure there’s tons of those out there by now… An email bulletin should be released for those who still, to this day, have no clue what is going on with the temporary [Alt] ley fix until there is a patch in the near future.

Thanks again for your help but, it looks like it was never a Data Service issue.<

Frustrating experience with QB. After upgrading to 2022, Balance Sheet went off for 100s of thousands. The representatives from QB ran rebuilt a few times and QB Dr, which put the balance back, however created strange invoices in the system. We are spending hours on the phone with support. They keep doing the same protocol over and over again with no results. Level 2 was supposed to call (Maria), never did...

I have been using QB 2022 since the beginning of the year. It only starting crashing after the latest update.

a short term fix was opening Microsoft Edge browser before launching QB. However, this is no longer working.

I am not ready to spend a few days on the phone with support and hopeful for any suggestions.

Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

I had the issue of QB crashing on previous versions and it seems that it eventually fixed itself.  I just started using this 2022 version (which I was forced to upgrade to and will need to pay for yearly now due to QB changing policy, but I digress. That is a topic for another chat) and this version crashes when I try to add a line to a proposal. It has happened 5 times now and the first time it lost a good 2 hours worth of typing.  I luckily was able to use snip it tool to get a screenshot of most of what I was forced to close out of, however I still needed to enter all the typing in again. When QB works, it is a good thing, when it does not, it is really really bad.

I am going to plod through the trials and tribulations of the fixes offered here and see what happens.

ARGH!!!

Hello, @A1elect.

I understand your situation. It's very frustrating when you can't see the buttons on your end. I'm here to help you find a workaround so you can contact our support team.

Before we start, let's try to fix the issue on your screen. I suggest changing your default settings in QuickBooks.

First, alter your screen and view preferences in QuickBooks before adjusting any Windows settings.

  1. QuickBooks Desktop should be closed.
  2. Navigate to the Windows Start menu.
  3. Enter "QuickBooks" into the search box. Then, on the QuickBooks icon, right-click and select Open file location.
  4. Right-click the QuickBooks.exe file in the folder and select Properties.
  5. Navigate to the Compatibility tab.
  6. Disable display scaling on high DPI settings by checking the box. Change high DPI settings and then Override high DPI scaling behavior are also options.
  7. Choose Apply, then OK.

Next, adjust your view preferences in QuickBooks

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. Select Desktop View from the list and then the My Preferences tab.
  3. In the View section, select the One Window option. Then select OK.

However, if the issue persists, we can still contact our support team in QuickBooks Desktop if you're unable to do it within your company file.

Follow these steps provided below:

  1. Go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/help/en-us/contact-us?product=QuickBooks%20Desktop
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product and click Continue.
  3. Select your QuickBooks Edition and write your topic or concern.
  4. Choose how you'd like to connect with us, Chat with us or Have us call you.
  5. Provide your details and hit Get a Call if you choose to talk to someone.

Please let me know how everything goes or if you encounter any problems after completing those steps. Leave a comment below and I'll respond right away. Have your day splendid.

Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

Heve a situation with QB 2022 Enterprise accountant, it started crashing, then a whole day of data entry on Banking for one client file didn't show up a couple of days later, that was last week on May 2022, for June 3 the program was crashing to many times an hour, verified updates and run all updates available, on the 11 of June we have 12 client files affected, some missing banking entries most of them missing created paychecks' and we have been doing payroll twice for the same periods, I try the fix the program like 15 times already and didn't work, then uninstall it and still have problems, yesterday I uninstall again, then clean the windows registry and also deleted any directory and reference to QuickBooks that I could find on the PC, after 5 times trying to reinstalling the software finally was able to open QuickBooks and got a sample file to test however the Sample file has entries up to December 2023, I had been trying to get help from Intuit but after like 30 hours with them I ony get response to teach me how to open files, telling me that I didn't  get the payroll done that they will "educate" me in how to open files but they keep ignoring the issue we have, is any one having also the deletion of entries with the crash?

I have been having the crashing issues for a week or so now.  It is getting very frustrating and I have wasted a lot of time on this issue.  Now, as soon as I open quickbooks 2022 it automatically crashes, where before, I used t be able to work on it for about 20/30 minutes.  I have tried the Quickbooks tool hub stuff and still no luck.  Why can't this issue get fixed when so many people are having this issue.

@Firebird2600  RE: So, until Intuit releases another update, which may take another month or so, the workaround is to just hold the [Alt] key before opening the company file. Heck, for now, maybe Intuit should release a small patch to disable the “Home Window” from starting up for now, which may resolve a lot of other customer’s issues.

The Home window is also a trigger for crashes on startup that I'm seeing as I work with client files.

Another way to keep the Home window from appearing is to change a preference. Each user should do this as the setting is per user. To change it go to Edit | Preferences | Desktop View | My Preferences. Then un-check the "Show home page when opening a company file" option.

They need a thumbs down (Boo) button to use on all the copy/paste responses from the people that do not read the thread to see what the actual problem is.

But, I mean, if you haven't rebuilt and run tool hub seven times, how can you be sure they won't work? :)

This thread, and now many others here, is a case study that makes it clear that requiring customers to update to the latest patch, and making it exceedingly difficult to revert to a prior patch and stay there, is a really bad idea.

Intuit would not have made such an error in the past. It seems they've lost a lot of common sense in recent years.

It seems they’re more focused on moving everyone to subscription-based and charging the most money possible for every licence, than making the actual software work.

Amusing!

It helped to keep Chrome closed but then that didn't work anymore.

Now when I log in I have to click on the vendors or employees tab or just get into any "action" and start working right away and that keeps it open...

Idk!
