Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

Thanks for joining the thread and letting us know about this crashing behavior in QuickBooks Desktop, @LC44.

 

If you followed the suggested troubleshooting here and you're still getting the same crashing behavior, I do recommend that you work with our Technical Support Team this time.

 

Our agents can check your company file provide other troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem. To in touch with our Technical Support, follow the steps below:

 

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

I appreciate all the replies from Intuit "agents" all of them telling me to contact tech support.  I've done that several times and wasted too many hours on the phone watching them point to my screen and try this, then try that.  It never crashes or shuts down when they are trying to get to the problem.  I honestly think i know more that some of the agents i spoke with.  One was actually reading from a manual, then telling me to try this.... oh well, guess I will have to put up with it, until they find a "fix" for this very flawed program.  The worst version yet.

I have been having the same exat problem with 3 different Quickbooks installations at 3 different businesses since the last Qucikbooks desktop upgrade.  What doyou mean no one has reported this problem!?!?!? I am sure if you check Customer Support, there are people asking!  I'd like to know what is going on also?

I'd still suggest reaching out to our technical support team. They have specific tools to further help you fix the problem when accessing your QuickBooks Desktop program. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue.

My System keeps closing as soon as it opens since you upgraded me after raping me for 1600.00 to fix the problem..  It is a month and a half and still not fixed have sat on 3 hour stents twice now while you supposedly fix the problem I personally don't think you know what the problem is and how to fix it.

I can understand where you're coming from. I'm here to provide some steps you can do to help open your QuickBooks successfully.

 

We are aware of this issue with QuickBooks Desktop and are currently looking into it to find a fix. In the meantime, I suggest contacting our support team so you'll be listed to one of the affected users. 

 

We can also use the [Alt] key before opening the company file. Another way is to keep the Home window from appearing is to change the preference. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Edit section.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Click Desktop View and My Preferences.
  4. Uncheck the Show home page when opening a company file option.

Once again, Monday morning here we go.  Tried to print a deposit slip and the program hung up, then shut down, no warning, no error message.

And again, within 15 minutes, tried to print a check, clicked "Print" and the program shut down. Sooo very annoying!

And again, not more than 1 hr later.   The Program does not offer the "report a bug" under the help button (another thing that doesn't work) so i will continue to post here everytime the program shuts down.  This is three times within 2 hours on Monday morning 8/1/22

I posted this thread on page 12 about how I got ours working by adding [*.]intuit.com to the allow list in the edge pop-up settings. If you use Chrome as your default, then try adding [*.]intuit.com as well. Some users were able to get it working, and some still don't work. Also, make sure Edge or Chrome is the default browser. It's worth a try.

I can see that you did everything you could, @netofpa and @Marilyn2400. If I were in that situation, I would have a hard time with that too. No worries, I'm here to provide additional steps to ensure you'll be able to use QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) smoothly. 

 

Thanks for providing details about your concern. Since you still experience that same thing even after performing the steps given in the thread, I highly recommend reaching out to our Technical Support team. This way, they can further investigate the root cause of the issue and provide additional steps to resolve this. Here's how:

 

  1. In your company file, select the Help menu.
  2. Then, click QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Next, select Contact Us.
  4. From there, enter a brief description of your issue.
  5. Select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.

 

To ensure you'll be assisted immediately, please visit our support hours page.

 

On the other hand, you may want to try the recommendation of @Todd_RCGNE by configuring the default browser's settings.

We're having this issue with many computers at an accounting firm.  Just added [*.]intuit.com in Edge and Chrome, but we also set Edge to the default browser for testing because that's what worked for others.  I'll update if it works or not.

That is what one of the techs advised.  Change to Edge as default browser, which i did (not happy about that because i prefer Chrome) a few weeks back.  I also disabled the home page at startup.  I run the QB tool hub quite often.  Still having the issue of shut down 2/3 times a day.

Thanks but no thanks, i don't have 2-3 hours to verify my license and walk you through all the times my program crashed, only for you to tell me to try this, try that... My time is valuable and I have already spent too many hours on this issue that should have been taken care of as a "total program/ software fix".  It should not be done on a 1 on 1 basis.   Fix mine, and let everyone else try to work it out themselves.  Intuit has to fix this on their end.  It's not my computer or my OS, Nor is it my files.  It's your problem.  You fix it and then send it out to all your faithful and paying customers.

Hey all, I had to call Intuit on another issue (new sales tax module, no where to enter a sales tax payment!) and asked about this. The investigation number on this issue is 74349. If you contact Intuit re your program crashing, give them this number to look up the status.

I got on a chat by following the instructions  HELP > QuickBooks desktop help/Contact Us  and they didn't know anything. Why, please tell me why if there is a workaround why you would not post it clearly online. And why would the agents in the chat have no idea that so many people are having problems with crashing. Does the left hand not know what the right hand is doing?? Is chat support completely disconnected form this forum?

Ran the tool hub once again, was working fine, but here it is 3:24pm on Monday afternoon, trying to print the check register and "BOOM " program shut down again, no error message, no warning.  Disgraceful!

Maybe you can tell someone how to get someone on the phone at Intuit that knows wtf is wrong with this horribly terrible pos software version. Apparently they are covid stupid as there seems to be no one with any useful information tending the tele, maybe they are all at home eating goobers.

what about 2022, does Intuit support that? It randomly crashes, and i've tried all of those fixes listed above...this is ridiculous you can't even get anyone on the phone!

It's easy to get them on the phone, but be prepared for 2-3 hours of troubleshooting, to no avail.
