No, that didn't happen to me. Perhaps it's because of the exact SKU's that I have, which don't check in the same way. In this case, follow the trouble-shooting recommended on the linked page and comment out individual server addresses until you find the one that make it work again. Then remove the comment for the address that didn't break it.
After adding those host entries, I had a similar issue with licensing as well after a reinstall. Once I removed the hosts entries, all was well with licensing.
So far, this is the only thing that worked for me - https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/install/re-qb-crash-right-after-opening/01/167054/...
Here we are, now into the 1st of the 5th month since this issue has been reported. Has anyone noticed, when you go to: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/ it shows plans for the "Online" version? If you go into the "Products and Features" menu section up top, it goes to the QB Online stuff as well. Where, oh where is the "new and improved" desktop version of QB? Ah, yes... you must scroll, scroll, and scroll...all the way to the bottom! There it is, under "Products." Then, you can click on "Quickbooks Desktop" and you'll get: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/
Now, it's $799 a year, paid annually. You can also look around the page and see how they try to coerce you three different ways to go with...wait for it... the online version, which is less than half the price annually than the desktop version. It looks like, to me, the 2023 desktop version may as well be...the final "desktop" version, since they have made it available more "discreetly" on their site!
Gone are the days when you were able to buy a license to use a software program for as long as you wanted to, without being "forced" into upgrading to the newer version if you didn't care about the features the newer version may have. Now, you must "subscribe" to the program and pay for the yearly updates, even though you don't care about the new features, and, especially, which is how most of my customers are, you hate... CHANGE!
If it ain't broke, why fix it, or, in this case, why upgrade it?
Software...as a "subscription" service...an expensive one at that!

They seem to be intentionally hiding QBD Pro and Mac. It's possible they want to give partners more time to dump their QBD 2022 stock.
quickbooks is garbage
This has happened to me as well. This is very frustrating!
Perhaps I'm too cynical but one of the reasons I think online is so attractive to Intuit is once you are online, the only way to have access to your data in a reasonably useful way is to keep paying their fee. We have to pay Intuit to be able to access our data - forever. If I understand this correctly, this is a problem with SaaS. If you cancel your Spotify subscription you can find somewhere else to access music - a risk worth taking. If you cancel your Quickbooks subscription, you effectively lose all of your financial information which can shutter your business or cause other unpleasantness.

This is a common practice in all cloud-based accounting apps. You must export your data to another format (eg XLS/CSV) for archive or purchase a third party service to convert your data. From a developer perspective, SaaS is more realistic for revenue streams and they won't be dealing with cracked licenses again.
Came here looking for this. I'm on the same boat. Had to remove the host entries for a moment then put them back on. I guess QB has some kind of heartbeat validation process that can't connect to intuit and gives you that error. I use a program called HostsEditor to make the process much easier, but still it is a hassle to do it every couple of weeks.
has anyone received this from QB yet? And if so, have you installed 2023? I will not download or install until i see how it is performing. I have enough time invested in 2022... Also, I am not sure this is legitimate email from Intuit. They once told me that their email never has more than @intuit.com This email came from Intuit QuickBooks <[email address removed]>

Yes, I downloaded it late last week.
So far, so good. But I have to point out that I had disabled the ads (the fix noted recently in this thread) so I will be unable to tell you if the update fixed the crash.
Login to your CAMPS and you must find your key codes to install QBD 2023.
what are my CAMPS?
@netofpa They mean your quickbooks online account. URL is https://camps.intuit.com/ but you can usually just go to quickbooks.com and choose your product type to login to as well.
Thank you!
Let me walk you through the steps on how to access the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs), netofpa.
In addition to the information shared by @murph2131, CAMPS is a web-based tool that lets you change your credit card, update your email address, find your license number, download your products, and cancel your subscription. Follow these steps to get there:
Here's an article that goes over some of the tasks you can accomplish with CAMPS: Change, manage or update your Intuit account with CAMPs. It contains links to specific processes as well as a video tutorial for visual reference.
These resources also cover a variety of topics that will help you learn how to download and upgrade to the most recent version of QuickBooks Desktop:
If you need help logging into CAMPS or have other subscription-related questions, leave a comment below. I'll get back and assist you further. Have a great day ahead.
I am having the same problem as well. So I guess the problem is not just with one person.
I have the same excact issue. QuickBooks this is on you.
Is anyone from Intuit suggesting that upgrading to the 2023 version is going to fix all the crashing problems? I don't think most people want to go through the upgrade process and then convert your files to the new version if it's not a certified fix for the crashing problem.
And people that have upgraded but also made other changes (like the HOSTS file) should not be commenting because it's not a good measure of whether the problem is fixed. You have tainted your installation by monkeying with it. No offense - I understand WHY you be doing it - to stop the monstrously aggravating crashes. But from a troubleshooting perspective, you have to be starting with an unmolested installation of 2022, upgrade to 2023 and say "it is fixed".
I have 2023 and it crashes randomly also. So not fixed.
Let me share some troubleshooting steps that can fix this issue, @Jeep2014.
QuickBooks crashing can be caused by a damaged component in the program. To isolate the issue, let's make sure to use the latest release of your QBDT product. This way, you'll always get our bug fixes and security patches.
If the issue persists, we can install the latest version of QuickBooks Tool Hub and run the Quick Fix my Program utility. This tool helps resolve major issues and errors that a user might face while working in QuickBooks. I suggest running it on Windows 10, 64-bit for the best experience.
When you're ready, here's how to open the software on your computer.
Once done, it's time to run the Quick Fix my Program utility:
To know more about this process, you can check this guide: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
Let me also share this article to learn how to obtain the different tools that will help you fix common issues and errors: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.
Keep me posted about the result of the troubleshooting steps. I'll always have your back. Stay safe.
That does NOT resolve the issue. I did that a number of times and it never solved the problem.
I have updated to the 2023 release so hopefully that will fix the issue.
Thank you for your advice. I have been running the QB tool Hub and the "Fix my Program" daily for several months now. I've made it a morning ritual to run that before i even open up a company in my QB program. The issue still persists. Mostly when i am going to print a check(s). It is so very frustrating to think you are good to go and when you click print, the cursor just hangs there with the blue circle spinning and then "poof" program shuts itself down. Then when i restart the program and go to print again it works fine. This also happens when i print a report or register. Granted, it does not happen ALL the time but at least 1-2 per day this program shuts down.
