RE: As of now, we don't have a specific timeframe for the release of QuickBooks Desktop 2025.
Oh, OK. Do you have a ballpark? Say, in the next month or two?
I don't think they will release QBD 2025.

I think a while back a rep told me that only Pro Advisors will continue getting desktop version.
Just spoke with Customer Care rep. (12/10/24)
There will be no QBDT 2025 release. QBDT 2024 will get updated indefinitely.
For DT payroll clients, 2022 will be shut down in May 2025.
For DT payroll clients, 2023 will be shut down in May 2026.
QBDT 2024 will be the only version available to process payroll after May 2026.
This all appears to be part of the bigger plan to migrate everyone to the Online platform.
I refuse to use their online version.
My Home Page has an icon that states "Quickbooks latest release is here". When I click on the icon I am taken to the page to purchase Quickbooks Desktop 2024 which I have been using all year. I am a Pro Advisior and use Desktop Accountant. Will there be a 2025 update or not? I will change programs before I expose my clients' information to an online platform.
Your dedication to the Desktop platform while prioritizing your clients' data security is commendable, @mm264. It is indeed perplexing that although you've already been using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Accountant 2024, you're still routed to the purchase page when clicking the link on the update pop-up. I want to ensure that I provide the information regarding QBDT 2025, help resolve the behavior you've experienced, and add references that you can browse to understand how QuickBooks Online (QBO) secures customer's data.
Intuit's official announcement states that, at this time, there'll only be a revamp of the software referred to as the QuickBooks 2024 R11_20 launched last November 15, 2024. Therefore, there will not be a QBDT 2025. With this, you'll get in-product update notifications, like in the image below, to ensure you have the latest features and security updates.
I acknowledge that you should only be routed to updating the software and not the purchase page. Let's manually check to see if you have the latest release, and to ensure the software is updated so the pop-up won't show up again. You can follow these steps:
If you don't have the latest release, let's manually download the update. Here's how:
If you have issues with the update process, refer to Solution 2 of the Unable to install the update section of this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Additionally, I completely understand your concern about transitioning to the QBO platform due to data security concerns. We continuously strive to provide secure solutions, and I want to reassure you that QBO is a secure choice for managing your clients' financial data should you consider it as an option in the future. You can refer to these articles:
We appreciate your dedication to the QBDT platform and proactive approach to seeking clarity. I hope the details I've provided supply your concern regarding QuickBooks updates. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to click on the Reply button and we're here to support you every step of the way.
So, we have already paid for a product that you are not releasing?
We have paid for 2025 but we are just going to get perpetual updates until you force us to your online product. Correct?
A product which, pardon the language, frankly SUCKS!!!! And oh gee you get to charge more.
Thanks.
I have an R12_18 updated version. Is that after the update you are referring to?
I'm trying to ensure I have the most recent copy so I can continue to service my clients.
