Quickbooks Desktop Automatic Update "No" Option Greyed Out

Bad comparison

Microsoft updates are completely controllable and customizable. Don't want updates during business hours? Just set that in a GPO. 2 minutes work.

My bad. You mentioned about Sage 50 (Desktop). What about their update policy?

When QB Desktop sends an update notification, you still have time to schedule it within a few days.

What the actual f, Intuit? What is wrong with your software architects? Your updates don't actually add features or fix any problems so why do you even have updates?

Their updates have been insignificant as their focus is no longer on Desktop.

The end result of Intuit's incredibly stupid programming blunder is our QB Enterprise 24 becomes unusable at random in the middle of the day. Then we IT people get screamed at.

If you are a veteran QB Desktop user, you already know not to upgrade your version to the latest version at least 6 months after the product was released.

We learned that Intuit is not actually capable of knowing if their repair did anything. The person who does the repair has no clue if their work fixed anything. Think about what I just said. Not being able to repair a file may be forgivable. Not being able to tell if you fixed it or not before you give it back to the customer...this is so far beyond incompetent it is scary and stunning. A stunning display of incompetence. 25 years working in IT and I have never witnessed a vendor being incapable of knowing if they fixed a problem (and also never actually fixing it).

It's no secret that most of the time we have to purchase third-party services to repair QB Desktop files that their own engineers cannot repair.

Quickbooks Desktop Automatic Update "No" Option Greyed Out

Im not very tech savvy but have been fighting with QB since my install of 2024. I had a prior version.

So my issue is after leaving my computer with QB open for a while when I come back the space after you open the company and put in your password is grey and will not let me type in my password.  It is throwing an error code in the logging area  of QB

When that happens it also locks up my windows button to so sign out of my computer I have to go into task manager, If I sign out and then sign back in, QB will let me type in my password to access my company...

In reading all the auto update comments I have been wondering if this may be connected.. Of course I have called QB and they want to up sell me a year of tech support for $799 because they says its all on my end. Funny I had no issues until i upgraded to 2024. Any thoughts

I am not sure you were calling a legit support team. Intuit Support in the US doesn't provide any number to dial at this time.

Because Charles M from Intuit isn't able to read and answer the question.  They don't understand the details of the product they are supposed to be supporting and instead run you around in circles wasting your time!
