QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 standalone (non-subscription) version.

A pleasant day to you, @Jre765. Let add information about your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Premier charge that was change from annually to monthly.

The billing cycle have been change to a monthly cycle after you updated to QBDT Premier 2024. You can check for this by logging in to your CAMPs account from the Billing and Subscription section. If you don't have an account yet, you can follow these steps to create one:

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account info. This could be different from what you use to sign in to your company file.
  3. If you see multiple products to choose from, select QuickBooks Desktop to go to CAMPs.

Check out this article for more info: Change, manage or update your Intuit account with CAMPs.

If you're still billed monthly, I recommend contacting QBDT support to help you check the status of your account as to why you're billed monthly.

Moreover, you can also check out this article to learn what's the latest update of QuickBooks Desktop 2024: What’s new in QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

Please let me know if you have further questions about your accounts billing cycle. I'm always here to assist. Keep safe!

Looks like you were referencing the home version. Support told me my 2019 Pro version would not be compatible with Windows 11.

QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 standalone (non-subscription) version.

Like others on this thread I am dismayed that the standalone license is no longer available.  I am currently using Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021 (in Canada) and need to upgrade.  I am looking at QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 on the subscription plan or going online with (possibly) the Plus plan.  I've tried chatting with Intuit and got bounced around like a ping-pong ball when on the 1-800 plan trying to understand the best fit for going forward.  My needs are relatively simple (e.g. no Payroll needed).  They are:

- 1 user

- 2 company files

- I use Items in QBDT and would like to continue with this concept if I have to go online

Does anyone have thoughts on the most economical route?  My QBDT Pro 2021 license cost me $450 which works out to $150 / year and was a perfectly reasonable amount.  I'm sad to see this option no longer available.

Thank you.

@yanbkca

You can keep using Desktop Pro 2021 as long as you like if you're not using Payroll.  I still use Desktop Pro 2021 because, as you mentioned, it was (in the US) $300 back in 2020.  The only Desktop option going forward is Enterprise at ~$1,900/year.  There may be resellers that sell it for less but it's still going to be 10 times(!) what you paid per year for Desktop Pro 2021.

When you say you use items, are you referring to inventory items or service/non-inventory items?  If you need inventory items, then you need to go with QBO Plus which is $99/month.  If you only need service or non-inventory items, you can use QBO Essentials which is $65/mo.  I'm quoting US prices but, in any case, the price increase is staggering compared to Pro 2021 and, I think, opens the door to competitors coming in.  If you don't need inventory, you can look at Xero's 'Growing' plan for $42/mo.  I have no affiliation with any of these companies.  Best of luck.

This stupendous increase in price by short sighted PE investors hopefully makes the market ripe for competition.  But I'm sure they'll use IP protection to try to stop someone from creating a substitute for a 25 year old implementation of several hundred year old accounting techniques.

Especially galling is having to pay twice for a 2nd company.  I have two small LLCs that were very simple to keep organized on QBDT but now it's ludicrously expensive.  Back to spreadsheets and shoe strings.

Look at MYOB.  I haven't used it personally but have a friend that has and likes it quite a bit.  MYOB Lite & Pro are ~$150 to $250/yr.

@Rainflurry  Some solid advice and options here.  Thank you very much!

And correct, I was using Items as part of the Inventory to track essentially non-inventory investments.

Thanks @Amanda-B  for the links, but I don't even know what, if anything Intuit, I am upgrading to yet.  I'm still trying to understand my desktop and online options.  It seems costs have gone up ~10x since 2021.

I am currently using Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021 (in Canada) and need to upgrade.

If you are using a non subscription license, why do you have to upgrade?

@Chrea My accountant mentioned it was no longer supported and I would have to upgrade

@yanbkca

You are indeed using an outdated version but as long as you don't need to run any add-ons (e.g. QB Payroll) you should be fine. If your accountant urges you to upgrade, you should follow their requests unless you find a new accountant. If you don't need to run any add-ons, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 Canadian Pro or Premier as a workaround.

I too would love to purchase.  My understanding is that all versions are now subscription.  Yet the pop-up ad from Intuit makes it look like one can Purchase Desktop Pro 2024.

Do you need to run any add-ons? e.g QB Payroll?

@moirab No, no add-ons.  Simply upgrading because my accountant indicated that the current version is no longer supported.  I file my sales taxes based QB calculations, so I'm wondering if the tax tables would be out of data at some point.

@yanbkca

If you don't need to run payroll, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 Canada Pro or Premier to upgrade your tax tables. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.
