what do you use for payroll since dont use quickbooks?
I have 2 independent contractors who receive annual 1099-NEC forms. They are paid through our financial institutions bill pay system.
Our sole use of QuickBooks is to track our multiple checking and savings accounts, and of course income and expense. We are an all volunteer non-profit, with the exception of the two noted above.
I have 7 employees, no insurance or retirement deductions, so I use the tables provided by the IRS yearly and the withholding table from my state. I know Social Security is .062 and Medicare is .0145 and I have all I need to know to do the deductions and come up with net pay. FUTA is .006 and I get an annual notice from my state for State Unemployment rate (these are not deducted from the employees' gross wages--just held in liability accounts until paid). I put all company and employee deductions in (separate) liability accounts until I pay them. I pay the federal taxes thru EFTPS every payroll day and take them from the liability accounts to bring them to zero. I keep a columnar pad with all the data. A P&L Report will show the payroll expenses for verification and the payroll liability accounts help keep me balanced with my columnar sheets--one for each employee, one for total payroll and one for Total Deposits paid.
My payroll response was for mileddiesel but it didn't go there as a Reply. Sorry.
Hi, I am trying to use QB Online and absolutely hate it after using desktop for 20 plus years. I need to be able to use sales orders.
I know Premier has sales orders and we have been using 2020 version. So my question is, is there any reason for me to upgrade? I only have 1 user with the 2020 Premier and need 2 users. What do you recommend that I do?
You can use a 3rd party inventory management app with the sales order feature to integrate with QBO.
QB Desktop 2020 is outdated and you can't purchase any additional seat for your license. You can purchase QB Desktop 2024 Premier Plus for 2 users to upgrade your version. You can call their sales team to purchase or through select partners (tax exempt, can get $100 cashback).
Contact me in private if you prefer to use QB Desktop with non subscription license.
Hello there, J123456.
I understand that transitioning from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) after 20 years can be challenging.
Yes, Fiat Lux - ASIAI is right. Creating a sales order is unavailable in QBO. However, you can make an estimate and convert it into invoices. Both are non-posting transactions and will not included in the Profit & Loss report. You may also want to explore a third-party application that can help create sales orders. You can find one by visiting this website: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/en-us/.
Otherwise, purchase the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop Premier. Our sales team manages the selling of products. To reach them, you can follow the steps below:

Moreover, you can refer to this article for step-by-step guidance on setting up your QBDT: Get started with QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have other questions about sales orders and managing users in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Take care.
they dont tell u you cannot go back to desktop either
also, i downgraded enterprise to pro and they double charged me.
just got that removed after my cc company stepped in.
the right and left hands in this company do not talk.
i am so sad they have deteriorated this much 0ver the last 30++nyears of working with them
they dont tell u you cannot go back to desktop
You can purchase a 3rd party service to convert data from QB Online to QB Desktop.
To state the obvious, Intuit does not want to sell any new subscriptions to QBDT so they are putting up as many barriers they can without being blatantly rude. I do not know, but suspect the reason you get push back from Intuit sales is they are not comped for QBDT and are comped for QBO.
Enterprise is an exception of sorts, but even so Intuit probably prefers selling QBO. As do I for the majority of inquires I receive.
You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro/Premier/Mac thru selected partners.
You are right that the sales reps and the account reps do not know what they are doing. Had an appointment with account rep, but he missed it and I called into sales. Sales said that there was no such thing as Desktop anymore and that I would have to pay over $4000 per year for an enterprise version plus bank feeds for each customer. This is from going for years at the $350 per 3 year upgrade cycle for desktop.
Account rep called after that and after long discussion recommended Enterprise silver at about $1200 (but no need for the other $1200 for bank feeds). After further discussing, I made my case for Desktop Pro, which he said would be OK, but the Enterprise would be "better".
Still, Desktop Pro is $650 per each year, when I used to pay about $117 per year. He tried to suggest why it was better for me to pay more than $500 increase per year for an expiring product. I laughed.
They probably need to take that part out of the script for the sales reps. This is a blatant money grab because of their market share. I'm definitely shopping around for alternatives. This kind of price hike is absolutely brutal and small businesses should not tolerate it.
Why do you have to upgrade to QBD 2024? If you don't use any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment), you can keep using 2021 for good.
The potential problem is the bank feed feature after May 2023. You can download .qbo files from your bank BUT you can't import directly into your QB Desktop. If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license from a partner.

If you prefer to keep using the bank feed feature, you can purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus for single user ($650) and pay the renewal fee every year. You can get $100 cashback to purchase it thru a partner. Intuit will support QB Desktop 2024 until 2027.
Not helpful at all, quit hiding your pricing, we already know you've had a big price jump.
Sure, if online was a product anyone asked for here, then it would be no problem. Personally, I don't trust my finical data to be mined and data to be sold by Intuit. I also don't think the price matches the utility of the software. I can pay $8 a month for an Office 365 sub, where I get multiple complex applications, e-mail hosting, and 1tb of storage.
They are not hiding the pricing. They just make it harder to purchase it.
You can purchase thru a partner if required.
When you hit the plans and pricing, the only thing that you get is the online pricing no desktop prices or subscription renewal pricing. Please let provide this information so we can help our clients.
You must call their sales team by phone to purchase QB Desktop 2024. Another option, you can email @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they can help to obtain the license + you can get $100 cashback.
I understand the importance of knowing the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) pricing before renewing an account, tss24. I'm here to share insights about this matter.
The only available product on the Plans and Pricing page is the Enterprise version since QuickBooks Desktop will stop selling several products to US new subscribers after July 31, 2024. The products below will no longer be available:
However, existing users aren't impacted by these changes. They can continue to renew their subscriptions after July 31, 2024. For more details, please see this article: Can't buy QuickBooks Desktop as a new US subscriber.
To ensure your client can renew their subscription, I recommend asking them to contact the phone number shared in this article: Renew your subscription or use view-only mode.
They can also follow the steps below to reach out to our chat and phone representative if they have other questions or concerns:

I find that Quick Books is going crazy with the pricing. I had 2021 but was able to upgrade to 2022 free of charge and was told that was good until mid year 2025. i keep getting calls that says they are from Quick Books and my account has been suspended. WHAT!!! They left a number to call at [removed]. Is this a scam?

Intuit is using emotional terrorism to drive everyone to their Online version, which is an absolutely crap program. If you don't need downloads from bank/credit cards, just keep using your software.
I am using several old QB desktop versions, no problem. Intuit just resorts to emotional terrorism.
We have desktop premier 2021 with payroll paid until 2025. We do not want to loose our payroll subscription. We are nonprofit and want to upgrade to 2024 to stay with desktop.
