QuickBooks Desktop Won't Open

Recently I have updated my Windows to the latest version but now my QuickBooks Desktop is not opening. How do I solve it? Please help!!

Did you upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11, or else?

Which QB Desktop year version do you have?

If you click your QuickBooks icon multiple times, sometimes it won't open right away. Be sure to initially allow the program some time to load before continuing with additional troubleshooting steps.

 

In the event you see a "QuickBooks needs a subscription" message, you're either in an unsupported version of QuickBooks, or your subscription has expired. You can download a supported version or check a subscription's status from the Customer Account Management Portal.

 

If you've tried the above already, you'll want to move on to troubleshooting with the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

 

Here's how:
 

  1. Close QuickBooks if it's running on your computer.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. 
  3. Save your file somewhere you can easily find it, like the Downloads or Desktop folders.
  4. Open your QuickBooksToolHub.exe file.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to our terms and conditions.
  6. When your installation is finished, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub. If you can't find your icon, do a search in Windows for "QuickBooks Tool Hub" and locate it that way.

  7. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, hit Program Problems.
  8. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  9. Start QuickBooks and open your data file.

 

If QuickBooks still won't open, you can continue troubleshooting with some of our additional processes.

Try restarting your computer and then attempting to open QuickBooks Desktop again. If the issue persists, try reinstalling the software or contacting QuickBooks support for further assistance.

Here is  the right direction for contacting support in QuickBooks Desktop. 

Since we streamlined the process of reaching out to our QuickBooks Support Team, a direct phone number is unavailable. You can reach one of our agents by going to the Help menu. Here's the complete process:

 

For the old Help menu interface:

  1. Click the Help (?) icon at the top.
  2. Choose the Contact Us button.
  3. Type your issue or question on the What can we help you with box.
  4. Proceed with the Let's talk button.
  5. Select the Start messaging option.

 

New Help menu:

  1. Click the Help (?) icon at the top.
  2. Type Talk to a human.
  3. Enter your issue or question on the What can we help you with box.
  4. Review and Select from the following: Ask the community, Chat with us, or Have us call you (callback).
