Join nowUpgraded my business account - paid the $300+ fee. 1st automatic download caused an error telling the database needed rebuilding. Tried the fix but the same screen kept coming back. So I called the phone number displayed on the error screen. I was told I had to pay and additional $800 or more to get my database files fixed and offered a multi year plan for doing this and would upgrade my quickbooks. The tech said I've been running quickbooks with a corrupted database since January 2022. It's been working just fine until the 1st database download auto installed itself. Now I'm a one person very small business who is now totally dead in the water. Lost YEARS of data of thousands of customer data - WHAT THE HECK?? Sounds like another scam to squeeze the small business OUT OF BUSINESS!!

Can you share the screenshot of the error message? Click the "Photos" icon on the menu to insert it.
We make sure all of our customer concerns are solved as soon as possible, @bcsmillsriver.
May I ask what version of QuickBooks Desktop you're using? Then, what is the error, and when did it happen? This is for me to get a better picture of what's happening and ensure we are on the same page.
You can also send screenshots here in the Community, but make sure to black out sensitive information to protect the account.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!
Quickbooks 2021 - have not been offered anything else or suggested i needed to upgrade.
The last update to Quickbooks downloaded automatically and installed approximately 6/1/2022.
When finished installing I signed in and was OK!
I saved a backup and exited. On 6/7/2022 I opened Quickbooks and received an error message that stated the database was corrupted giving me a choice to close and reopen Quickbooks and then rebuild the data base.
Attempted to complete this but was stopped with same error message and Quickbooks auto closed.
I called the support number in the message (Don't remember what the number was) and went through an ordeal to log into logmein to allow access to the technician. Once connected I was transferred to a 2nd tech. The 2nd tech told me the database had been corrupted since January 2022. Never had any issues until 6/7/2022. He stated I was using an OLD version of Quickbooks no longer supported. To get the problem fixed he offered me 3 choices, all involving paying amounts from $800 to $1200 and my database would get repaired and he would install a new version and get me on support.
NOTE - I just recently spent $300++ to get to use my Quickbooks and at no time was I told it wasn't supported - as a matter of fact I was told that paying the upgrade I was supported for 1 year.
Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021
I have been a Quickbooks user since Quickbooks came out - and HAD several thousands user paid invoices and users contact information when this blew up on me. NOW? NOTHING! Quickbooks has been uninstalled on my computer. Not a happy camper!!!

Afaik, the legit support doesn't use Logmein, If you try to open the file again on your QBD 2021, you will encounter the same error message, correct? Share the screenshot I mentioned earlier.
Hi there, @bcsmillsriver.
Thanks for following up with us and sharing the details of your concern.
As Fiat mentioned above, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the error message? This way, I can take a deeper look on our backend to see if there are any current ongoing investigations.
I see that you said QuickBooks Desktop is currently uninstalled from your computer. Let's use the steps in the guided help article below to get clean install.
I understand that the error is saying you have data corruption and asked to close and rebuild the company file. Once the rebuild completed, was there errors in the View Results option? If so, let's run a Verify to ensure there are no further error messages. You can do this by going to the File menu>Utilities>Verify Data.
Once the Verify has completed and you see any ongoing errors, I recommend using the link that I've included below to connect with our Technical Support Team. This way, an agent can review the details of the error log and help get this matter resolved quickly. If the agent is unable to clear the corruption, they have the tools available to escalate the damaged file to our Data Services Team.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I look forward to chatting with you soon. Take care!
Thanks to everyone for your valued help! Without having this to vent, ask questions etc I wouldn't be using QuickBooks! Having said that, before my 1st post, I had already UNINSTALLED QuickBooks - so there wasn't a screen to capture. Guess I should've taken a deep breathe and walked away to cool down first.
I did a CLEAN download & install of QuickBooks and updated it to bring me to current status. I was able to get my QuickBooks backup restored!
All's WELL!
