Quickbooks on Laptop

We need to update out main computer at our office and we are working remotely a lot more now. If we get a laptop can we install Quickbooks on it and use it from anywhere are do we need to be tied to a specific IP address. Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks for checking in with the Community. So many of us are working remotely these days, and the convenience of having a laptop is definitely a plus. QuickBooks is not IP address specific, so you can use it anywhere.

QuickBooks can be easily installed on a laptop. You’ll want to make sure the laptop has the correct system requirements. Here they are: System requirements

In order to move your QuickBooks Desktop, you will want to install QuickBooks on your laptop and restore a backup copy of your company file.

Install QuickBooks:

On the computer where you want QuickBooks Desktop installed, download the installation files or insert the CD.
Install QuickBooks Desktop as you normally would. See Install QuickBooks Desktop for more detailed steps.

To backup and restore your file:

Create a backup of your file on the old computer.
Copy the backup file to your new computer:
- using a flash drive or other external device; or
- through a network, if the computers are connected.
Restore the backup on your new computer.
