There seems to be confusion at Intuit about the QBO Advanced Desktop App so I'm hoping we can get some straight answers. I've contacted support three times regarding this product and all three times I was assured this product was discontinued, even after I explained that it was different than the one that was discontinued. I feel like I'm talking to bots.
-Quickbook website states QBO Desktop app was discontinued April 20, 2021.
-Quickbooks Online Advanced Desktop App was released around November 2021.
-Support tells me that there was only one App and no such thing as the Advanced desktop App (because it does not come up in their support). They said the links I sent them are old links and should not say Advanced.
-Several times when I have logged into Quickbook Online Advanced it prompted me to download the "new" Quickbook Online Advanced Desktop App. The App is still able to be downloaded and it gets updated every month. Why would they be updated an app if they discontinued it?
-When you launch the QBO Advanced Desktop App it states it is "QBO Desktop App" which certainly adds to the confusion.
-Support told me this link is old and should be ignored. Download and use the QuickBooks Online Advanced desktop app (intuit.com)
-Support told me this site was wrong and that third party sites post things that are not true. Meet the New QuickBooks Online Advanced Desktop App for Microsoft Windows - insightfulaccountant.com...
-Support told me this link is a mistake and talking about the old product. The interesting thing is it was posted just a few weeks ago and the video link to youtube is also brand new, dated 2022. If this is discontinued why are they making new marketing videos and posting them on youtube. Clearly they are ignoring the comments on youtube because they have the same question as I. How to use the QuickBooks Online app for your computer (intuit.com) Interesting thing is the URL says Advanced but the video and text does not. It's like marketing doesnt know either.
If someone at Intuit can please either explain why your website and advanced tells me there is this new app yet when I try to report a bug in the software, I'm told it was discontinued a year ago. This blows my mind how the company does not even know what they are releasing and is unable to get me support because of that.
I'm here to clear things out for you, adam-dot-net.
The regular desktop application was discontinued last April 20, 2021. The one you're using is the app exclusive to QuickBooks Online Advanced users. We've launch this to provide more innovative accessibility and streamline workflows.
The program was made more stable for power users who spent several working thanks to its multi-tab and company switching features. If you opt to access your account through the application instead of a web browser, you can remain logged in for up to six months unless you deliberately choose to log out.
In addition, a navigation map view similar to the home page found in QuickBooks Desktop will be available. This speed up and simplify your tasks by offering a flowchart of linked procedures.
To avoid unexpected behaviors, we recommend running the software through a Windows 64-bit computer. If you're having trouble, we have a dedicated support team for QBO Advanced to ensure your enquiries are sought to. Here's how to contact them:
I also encourage posting the bug that you encountered here. This way, the Community Team and other product experts can help you out.

Thanks for your response, you are the first person at Intuit to confirm there are two separate apps (just like the website states). I have reached out to Quickbook Advanced support just like you suggested two times now and both times they told me the same thing, that the Advanced App is the same as the other app and it is discontinued, they have no way to take a bug report since the program was discontinued. They said they even confirmed it with their supervisor that there is no such thing and the websites I am talking about have old information and they apologized for the confusion. Sad. You should review my chat history too.
With that being said, the problem we encounter is every hour the quickbooks advanced desktop app pops up and takes over the screen, we move another window in front of it but then a few minutes later it does it again. Then it's fine for another hour but this is really frustrating when trying to work on multiple windows. It happens on all our computers, both new and old and win10 pro and win11 pro. It must happen for everyone and clearing app data and reinstalling does not matter. Additionally, an update a month ago makes it launch as a full screen window, we would love to turn this off, we have large monitors and would never want it full screen. Can we get these two things to the dev team and they are welcome to reach out directly to us.
Thanks for joining in, @nathanls.
I understand how you want to use the QuickBooks Desktop app. To ensure it function well, I'd recommend running the software on a Windows 64-bit computer to avoid unexpected behavior.

Hello, Thank you for the response. I'm running on a Windows 64-bit arm based computer. There seems to be a compatibility issue with this. Is there any plans to support a 64 bit arm based machine in the near future?
Hi there, nathanls.
Allow me to share some information about the system requirements when using QuickBooks.
In QuickBooks Online, the recommended operating systems and internet steps are as follows:
You'll have to ensure you've met the system requirements so you'll get the best experience when using QuickBooks. For more information, refer to this program and applications compatibility: System requirements for QuickBooks Online, Accountant, Payroll, and QuickBooks Self-Employed.
I can see how the ability of your computers to run a 64-bit arm based would be beneficial to your business. I'd recommend sending a feedback request directly to our Product Development team. It helps us improve the features of the program.

I am having the same issue - my computer meets all the specs - but the app won't load. I don't understand how you all don't see the value for professional end users in having this app. Trying to work in multiple windows on a web browser is clunky, cumbersome and slow. This app makes that so much easier. Listen to your customers.
I understand the value and importance of the QuickBooks Advanced Desktop app to your business, @bkramey.
Seeing as your computer meets the requirements for this app to function well, yet you're still experiencing issues, I recommend contacting our support team. They have enough resources to accurately identify and address the root cause of this issue while ensuring that your information remains secure.
