i am leaving quick books, i am tired of the continued increases. i was 570.00 per year to run payroll only with 24 employees and i write the checks. last night, 12/18/2023, quick books stopped me from running last weeks payroll, took over my screen and said i would have to sign up for new online service at 2,000.00 per year for 24 employees. i was able to work around it and process the payroll. this should be against the law. i am going to attorney general and bbb to file complaint. a lot of businesses will leave quick books.
is there any company out there that can supply the software to run payroll and keep it updated?
thx.....ge
Is your company registered in CA, FL, IL, KS, NC, NH, NY, SD, TN, TX, UT, or WA?
You may consider one payroll app. It costs $190/year + $30/employee/year
I agree; it feels like being backed into a corner, doesn't it. And doing this to you right before tax season is unethical, imho. I hope you exported all of your financial reports in case of audit, because you are locked out of all of your historical data, too. You can't even open quickbooks to run old reports. I feel that in and of itself is a crime.
You can convert your QBO data to a QB Desktop file format and use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then you can start from scratch in another accounting app to lower your conversion costs.
I find the quickbooks online to expensive for us we are a small business I used to buy the software desktop pro for $149 a year. I am paying now $485 and it will double next August, I am planning to look for other options, since we are a small business and cannot afford such expensive software. Any suggestions?

I am wondering whether there are other options, your software is made for only very large companies not small businesses
Click on my profile and you will find our website to send emails. We can share a few option to consider to lower your cost. i.e switching back to QB Desktop Pro Plus ($650) or another cloud-based accounting app
its still very expensive, looking for something alot less expensive
let me look at the Standard plus.

What is the renewal fee for desktop simple start?
QuickBooks Desktop Simple Start or QuickBooks Online Simple Start?
Hi there, @pamkr48.
I'm here to assist you with your query about the QuickBooks renewal fee. May I ask what specific QuickBooks product you are using? I'll await your response to assist you with your QuickBooks renewal.
Here's the link for plans and pricing in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise: QuickBooks Plans & Pricing.
If you're referring to QuickBooks Online Simple Start, the price starts at $30 per month without Payroll service. If you've been offered a discount of 50% for the first three months, the cost will be back to its original price after the three months.
Additionally, I'd like to drop this article about resubscribing or reactivating QuickBooks Online and frequently asked questions with answers: Resubscribe to or reactivate QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to reply below with the specific QuickBooks product that you're using. I'll wait for your response.
I have only had QB onlne since the beginning of this year and it is increasing more than 15%!! I want to know why this is happening. I thought my price was locked in for at least a year.
Hey there, aboring.
I completely understand your frustration seeing an unexpected increase in a service you rely on, especially when you believed your rate was locked in for a certain period. You've only had QuickBooks Online (QBO) since the start of the year so I can imagine how confusing and concerning this price must be.
Prices for QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced subscriptions went up on August 1, 2024. If you signed up after February 1, 2024, your original price is locked in for six months. After that, the new rates will apply.
If you have a promotional discount, you’ll keep that rate until the promotion ends, after which your subscription will adjust to the new price.
I'd also recommend contacting directly to QuickBooks customer support for a clear explanation. They have the expertise to assist you further and provide the necessary details.
I'm also sharing this article to learn more about the charges in QBO: How to understand your subscription rates and charges.
