Quickbooks Online

I am trying to do my 2021 taxes and have searched through the online community to see how to export my data allowing me to import into TurboTax.  One suggestion was to download as trial version of Quickbooks Desktop and export my QBO data.  I loaded the desktop trial and I can no longer access my Online data.  How do I resolve this issue?

Hello there, bradhansonauthor.

May I know if you receive an error message when trying to access your QBO account? Any additional information can help me provide a timely resolution.

In the meantime, you can perform some steps so you can sign in to your QBO account. If you still have access to the phone or email address on file, you can get back into your account by following these steps:

  1. Go to our sign in help page.
  2. Enter the phone number, email address, or user ID for your account. Or, select Try something else and answer other questions about yourself. Then select Continue.
  3. Check your phone or email for a message from Intuit or QuickBooks. Enter the code we sent, or follow the instructions in the message. We may ask you for a little more info to make sure it’s really you.
  4. When prompted, reset your password.

If you're experiencing other issues, check out the get help if you can't sign in to your QuickBooks Online account for an additional guide.

Once you're able to access your account, here's how to move your QBO data to QBDT: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. Then, you can follow these steps on how to transfer your QuickBooks data to TurboTax:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax and go to the File menu.
  2. Select Import.
  3. Click the From Accounting Software.
  4. Select QuickBooks (2021) and click Continue.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Also, you can consider looking for a third-party app that lets you import your data directly to TurboTax. You can go to the Apps menu or visit our QuickBooks App Store for reference.

If you need further assistance moving your data, you can always tag me in your reply. I'll be around to help you.

Good Afternoon,

Perhaps I was not clear in my issue.  I am not able to see any of my data and when I log into QBO, it asks me to setup everything all over again.  If I try to look at Quickbooks Desktop, it asks me to setup a company as well.  I believe Intuit believes I changed to the desktop version so my online version does not have any data to show.  How do I fix this issue?

Hi Everyone.  I was able to resolve the issue.  It appears that a second business with the same name was created/tied to my login.  I selected the correct name and my information was back.
