In QuickBooks point of sale 19, we have had an issue where the credit card authorization in progress status never stops. It's almost as if there's a windows prompt somewhere we can't see wanting us to hit okay but it never shows up or is hidden behind POS. Because it is clearly not frozen. The I can still toggle between programs or even the accept credit card windows in POS. This is happening every time we try to process a credit card through manual entry.
Hi there, William.
Let's make sure that you're able to process the credit card authorization in QuickBooks POS successfully.
First, let's update the program'ss maintenance release. This process resolves some of the most common bugs and program issues. Here's how:
Once done, process a credit card authorization again to check if the issue is already resolved.
Second, repair QuickBooks POS if you're still getting the same issue. This helps us resolve errors you encounter while using POS. Here's an article as a guide: Repair QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
You might also need to uninstall and then reinstall the program just in case the issue persists.

Hi there, William.
Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about spinning credit card authorization button. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at anytime.
Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
No there is not a resolution to this issue.
POS owners will continue to look stupid for about 10% of your customers! Just randomly!
sometimes it just spinnnnns and sometimes it takes 3 or 4 minutes to return an approval, but by then you already took the customers to another register and re rang the purchase again. You can restart POS later when your not busy….over $7000 and 9 months of POS 19, over ten years of POS experience- very sad 0:
This still has not been resolved no update has resolved it. It doesn't hang up on ever transaction but at least once a day. This makes processing credit cards impossible!

Just to make sure were on the same page. Have you tried the troubleshooting steps shared by my colleague JenoP above? If not, I recommend performing it to get around the issue.
If you have and the issue persists, I suggest restarting your Point of Sale (POS) to refresh the program and to isolate this. Also, did you encounter any error messages? If so, can you share them with me? This way, I can gather more information about it and provide you with the best fix.

We have tried the above process above, including calling into support. I feel as we did almost nothing while on the support call. Trying to replicate the issue.
I will say it feels more like there is an open dialogue box that is holding up the authorization, so I clearly can still interact with the windows, and click the help button. However any attempts to find an open dialogue box have not yielded any results.
From the link Process and take payments in QuickBooks Point of Sale. That you shared we are at Step 4: Process your customer's payment. Credit Card. Manual then it hangs up on sub-step 5. "Once authorization is complete, select a save option for the receipt."
We have no external hardware connected to process payments.
