Requiring a password to access intuit company files is much different then requiring an intuit account!!
Your response does nothing to address the requirement of having to create an intuit account!
I am a systems administrator for a HUGE communication company and know about security...all Intuit is doing is allowing another access into OUR company files. These are not Intuit files, nor does Intuit have ANY RIGHT to require such!
So, intuit reps are avoiding my direct question of whether intuit has in fact uploaded our company files onto an intuit server or other system of some kind, but it appears quite certain intuit has. This is most disturbing. Nothing in the pop-up requiring the creation of an intuit account warned me intuit would upload my company files. So, I ask, how can this be reversed and my data purged from intuits system? Will this require a lawsuit?
We want to make sure your data and privacy is safe here at Intuit, @D-DayLaw.
We have One Intuit Account (OIA) Manager that allows you to access and manage your personal data securely and efficiently. You can go to the https://accounts.intuit.com and access it from there.
I'm adding this article for more details: Access and manage your personal data from the One Intuit Account Manager.
I'm still open to your reply. If you have other concerns while managing your data, feel free to add them. Have a good one.
You keep telling me that it will be secure. That does not change a thing for me. I still see no reason that I should HAVE to log into an Intuit account to use MY Paid for software. I DO NOT want any cloud connections to my Accounts. Is the log in in 7 day option going to keep working, annoying as it is? Or will the login in become Mandatory?
Allow me to chime in, and provide additional info, @Billy DB.
The intention of requiring the Admin/Primary login when you open or create a new company file is for you to have greater control over user access and make it easier to have all your Intuit products connected. If you choose not to log in, you'll see a window reminding you of 28 days (QuickBooks Pro/Premier/Plus) or 42 days (QuickBooks Enterprise) limit. After that, you'll no longer be able to skip signing in.
For more details please see this article: Manage Intuit Account.
Here's a great source where you can find articles that can help you in managing your books in QuickBooks, please visit our QBDT help articles page. This includes topics such as reconciliation, track income, and expenses, run reports, etc.
Keep me posted if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'm always here to help. Have a great day ahead.
The idea that this Mandatory login is for me to have greater control over user access is totally ridiculous. How do I have greater control when this process takes away MY control of my accounts. My Intuit products, 1 Desktop Program and I will start looking for a replacement. I can't believe that your company is doing this. I am seriously considering talking to a lawyer about your over reach into my personal information.
AGREED!!!! WE PURCHASED QUICKBOOK PRO IN 2019 NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN WE MUST HAVE AN INTUIT ACCOUNT????? WHY?? WHAT HAS CHANGED? THIS IS A PRETTY SAD WAY TO DRUM UP SOME BUSINESS TO CHARGE MONTHLY COSTS FOR A PROGRAM THAT HAS WORKED JUST FINE! I FEEL LIKE OUR QUICKBOOK PRO AT WORK JUST GOT HIJACKED! DISPICABLE!
This feels like a precursor towards forcing all Quickbooks users to a cloud implementation along with the corresponding "annuity" pricing model. This not only would involve storing financial data in the cloud but creates an ongoing expense for the business and an income stream for Intuit.
Not a fan for this kind of an application. Intuit, can you say this isn't the case?
Yes, please be come clean and tell us what intuit is doing with our company data.
I agree with this new "requirement". It is confusing and I'm not convinced of the "security"reasons for doing it. I think it is more of a way in eventually forcing you into the online version. This is the last straw for me. I had been looking for a replacement for all of my customers and it looks like I need to speed up the process. My customers have had problems with encryption of fields within their database files with the new versions so I have stopped migrating them off of the 2018 version to the newer version. I'm wondering now if there is a way to migrate back to the older version without going to backup and re-entering transactions. Sad indeed, but I have seen the writing on the wall for some time.
Hello, remoteone. I can help share insights about migrating back your QuickBooks file.
Once you convert your file to a newer version of QuickBooks, you can no longer migrate back to the older version. What you can do is to restore the backup file you've created using that version.
You can follow the detailed steps outlined in these articles below:
Please get back to us if you have any other questions about the restoring company file. I'll be happy to help.
So, is anyone going to answer my question honestly? What is intuit doing with our company data?
Stop dodging the question that literally EVERYONE is asking about this new "security". Its a really simple yes/no:
Is QuickBooks desktop sending any part of the customer file back to Intuit, or any one else, as a result of this new online account? Yes or no.
"We take your security seriously" - sounds like "we secure your data" which is a violation of our privacy plain and simple.
And for god sakes stop linking to your dumb unrelated articles about desktop passwords, Not one person asked about the desktop password. We all want to know about the online account, and why Intuit is forcing this upon it's users. None of this irrelevant talk about multiple products; very few of use use anything BUT desktop.; in essence your forcing us to do things that don't have a tangible purpose.
So I ask again:
Is QuickBooks desktop sending any part of the customer file back to Intuit, or any one else, as a result of this new online account? Yes or no.
And just in case I, or the 20 people about haven't been absolutely clear on what we are asking;
Is QuickBooks desktop sending any part of the customer file back to Intuit, or any one else, as a result of this new online account? Yes or no.
Hi there, Keick.
I'm glad to see you posting here in QuickBooks Community. I'll provide additional information about the Online Intuit account and how and how your data secure Intuit.
You'll need one Intuit account for all of your Intuit activity, from QBDT, QBO, TurboTax, QBSE, etc. That said, the purpose of an Intuit account gives you the power to manage your finances across all Intuit products you use. It allows you to access all Intuit products including TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Mint, through a single account. For example, this means you need only one User ID and password. When you update your Intuit account information, it will be updated across all products you use so you will not need to update account information in each separate product. Intuit just keeps your data & privacy safe and you're the only one who can access and control it anytime. It's an added security to maintain the information for each product you purchase in one place at Intuit.
Please refer to the articles below to see more information about the Intuit account and how you can access and manage your personal data from there.
If you have any other concerns, feedback, or questions, don't hesitate and come back to the Community. I'm always here to help you. Have a great day.
Ok, fair enough. You want a single user/pass for all your services. That really isn't for the customer's benefit so much as for your own, but I'm not judging.
You said said, and I quote:
"...if you're using QuickBooks merchant services. If so, yes, QuickBooks sends back your customer's data..."
But if you never said if you don't take our data if we are not using merchant services did you. So overall the question is still left completely unanswered.
In fact, for a 100% completely acceptable answer, would be for Intuit to state unambiguously that outside of Merchant Services (whatever that definition is) Quickbook Desktop will never send a company file, in part or in whole, to Intuit (or other vender) without the express opt-in permission of the owner. Bonus points if you can actually point to a policy on the website where such a statement is made.
The question of whether this is Quickbooks effort to moving everyone to the cloud and subscription fee income really wasn't addressed.
The response I received really didn't address whether this is Intuit's effort to drive everyone to the cloud and a subscription based service. I believe that has already been done for Apple users.
This has all the makings of a bot response. Good keyword response.
When I try and open QB I am instructed to establish an Intuit account, but, long story short is it won't let me. I have tried to contact chat and no one responds. Telephone help is impossible. I am losing money. please help ASAP.
Thank you!
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Melilli. Since you are receiving an issue trying to establish an account within the program, let's create your Intuit account outside QuickBooks. Here's how:
Once you have created your account, go back to your QuickBooks program and log into your company file with this information. You can refer to this article if you already have an account and need to change the password. Please let me know how this goes and if you need any additional assistance. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
"On the other hand, QuickBooks will send any part of the file back to Intuit if you have a merchant account. The data is sent back because we need to verify and secure your transactions for customers who use online payments. A confirmation will appear with details on how we'll keep your customer's data. If you don't have a merchant account, the data will be stored in our server with multi-layered security."
This would appear to indicate QB is uploading users' data to Intuit no matter what. Please clarify.

Thanks for the copy/pasted reply but that's not what I was asking.
Same thing I've heard before from QB Team. Does not change the fact that I DO NOT TRUST you, and that you made this mandatory makes me trust you LESS. I did create account. But I am MAD that I had to.
I am a 1 person business I use barely anything on my desktop pro 2019. I did not even need that I was forced into. I have no need for any intuit services whatsoever ever. I greatly resent being forced to update my quick books to sign in. I need nothing from intuit and want nothing I resent your unethical practices. I paid for a desktop to do invoices that’s it. I need nothing else. Yet I can not use it as I intended and you did not tell me at purchase that I was forced to enter updates. I do not want you to have any of my personal info nor do I want it online. How is this ok?!?!?!?
