I transferred my 2019 Quickbooks for Mac software and files to a new computer but now I get messages that say I can only use the software seven more times before registering. 1) It ought to already be registered! I've used this software for many years. 2) It won't let me "register" without speaking to an agent, says that my information doesn't match what is on file. But this cannot possibly be true. I have not moved or changed my phone number. 3) I also have had this same problem in the past (the last time I got a new laptop) and I have a vague recollection that this was a trick to force me to have to upgrade last time when the newest update offered nothing I needed. Any clues on what I can do without THAT happening again?

You may need to contact our Technical Support so you can successfully register your account. You may choose either to Register Online or to be Assisted. They have the resources to take a look into your account and help you register your QuickBooks.

It's not a trick, you moved your company file without your pref files. Call the support number and they will walk you through registering.
Thank you. Interesting that the instructions online do not tell you to find those pref. files and transfer them as well. Customer service did help . . . but not before trying to up-sell me first! I interrupted that this time right away and only THEN did I get the validation code I needed.
The register online option should have worked - perhaps there was a server failure during the time.
