Hello!
I have recently started using QuickBooks Self-Employed, and I was wondering why it is not able to automatically import all transactions from the start of this year? I have used QuickBooks Online and it does this with no problem. I have heard that it is because the bank limits how far QuickBooks can go back, but if that's the case then why does it work with QuickBooks Online?
By the way, I am aware that I can import older transactions manually.
Hello there, Greekix.
Yes, you're correct, some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions while others can go back as far as 24 months. If you need to get old transactions that were not downloaded by the system, you can manually upload them. You'll just have to log in to your bank's website and then download the transactions through a CSV file format.
Let me show you how:

I fully understand how to import older transactions, and while I appreciate the instructions, that does not specifcally address what I was asking.
My two banks both go back to at least the beginning of this year when I connect them to QuickBooks Online, however, QuickBooks Self-Employed only goes back 90 days, despite the banks allowing for it to go back further.
Hi Greekix,
I would also wonder if this happens to me because both programs only depend on how far can a connected account provide feeds. I'll share a way to check the cause of this behavior.
I'd suggest deleting and reconnecting the account to see if it downloads the transactions since the beginning of the year this time. No worries, you won’t get duplicates because the existing transactions will be removed when you delete the account.
If the same thing happens, please contact our QBSE Support. They can use more tools to check this further.
On the other hand, I see what Catherine has shared some resources to guide you with the next steps. Feel free to check them out.
