QuickBooks Server for Mac Sharing Has Stopped

I'm using QuickBooks 2020 Server for Mac to share my company file, and I'm getting this error message: "Sharing for [Company File] has stopped because QuickBooks was unable to update the file. Your system may be low on disk space."

I'm running macOS Big Sur, with nearly a terabyte of free space. No other applications are experiencing errors. I can even open the company file in QuickBooks for Mac Desktop on the same machine.

Has anyone else run into this error?

QuickBooks Server for Mac Sharing Has Stopped

Welcome to the Community, @tlitchfo.

When you are accessing your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) files on a server or network mounted drive, you are using a networking protocol. It comes down to file locking protocols on the network, which vary and have latency issues.

To isolate this, you can run the QuickBooks Server application. Then, open the file, then have the other users connect to the hosted file in Multiuser mode. For further information about the QuickBooks Server, please proceed to page 25 of this user guide: QuickBooks for Mac user's guide.

I also recommend visiting our QuickBooks Help page, so you can browse articles or questions from other users that were answered by QB experts. This will help you earn more knowledge that can help you with your accounting tasks.

Don't hesitate to post again or leave a comment below if you have any other concerns. I'm more than willing to help. Have a wonderful day!

QuickBooks Server for Mac Sharing Has Stopped

The low disk space issue may be occurring on the client computer and not the one hosting the server.  Have you checked those?

If that doesn't solve it, then the best bet is to collect your log files.  Submit a report referencing this and saying you talked to IntuitBrooks via the QuickBooks->Submit Feedback menu in the application.  We'll see it come through and contact you.
