I'm quite disappointed that QB website is not available in Spanish for the US. I have several Hispanic clients that would benefit from signing up to QB for their business but neither the website nor the resources for small businesses that QB offers for the US market are available in Spanish. What I don't understand is that TurboTax, another Intuit product, is available in both, English and Spanish.
According to a 2015 report by Instituto Cervantes, the United States has the second highest concentration of Spanish speakers in the world, after Mexico. Roughly 53 million people, 41 million native Spanish speakers, and approximately 11.6 million bilingual Spanish Speakers live in the United States. There are more people speaking Spanish in the U.S. than Spain (47 million speakers) and Colombia (48 million speakers). By 2050, the United States is expected to have 138 million Spanish speakers, making it the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world.
Hey Intuit, you're definitely leaving a lot of money on the table by NOT localizing your website in Spanish for the US!!!
Hi there, @Majenney.
I hear you and realize the importance of having the option to set Spanish to be the language of the QuickBooks website.
At this time, the option to select Spanish to be the default language is only available to the international version of QuickBooks Online account.
For the US version, the best way to change the language, is to set it from your browser. This way, QBO will be displayed in Spanish.
Here are the steps on how to do the depending on your browser:
For Google Chrome:
For Mozilla Firefox:
For Microsoft Edge:
If you're using Safari, just go to the Apple menu. Then, select System Preferences and click Language & Region. You can add Spanish as the default language from there.
On the other hand, please know that your voice matters to us. I encourage you to submit this preference to our developers. This way, this feedback will be taken into consideration to cope with your business needs.
To do that:
I’m also adding a link where you’ll see the latest features being rolled out, check them through here: QuickBooks Blog.
Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other concerns with QuickBooks Online. I want to ensure your taken care of. Thanks for coming and have a great day.
Thank you for the detailed explanation of how to change the language settings on the browser.
I´m afraid I didn't communicate very well in my question. Let's try this again:
1. I don't want to set Spanish to be the language of my Quickbooks account.
2. I want to create an affiliate program for my Spanish-speaking audience in the US. I won't be able to promote Quickbooks to them since the website https://quickbooks.intuit.com is just available in English.
3. Why TurboTax is available in both English and Spanish and QB is not?
Once again, I'm reiterating the need for a bilingual website that can meet the needs of the Hispanic market in the US.
Hello again, @Majenney. Thanks for providing additional information about your concern.
I appreciate your input from every angle.
Right now, the option to use multi-language in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable. I can see how this feature would be beneficial to you and other businesses. In the meantime, I encourage you to star our blog to keep up with any product updates or improvements on the online version: QuickBooks Online Blog.
If you have any other concerns or questions, just let me know. I'll be happy to help. Have a great day!
Part of the problem with QB's language solution of translating the website is that:
1) many users prefer to use desktop
2) they need to be able to watch the training videos IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE (for example, many Spanish speakers can read the English words in the software just fine, but they cannot follow the explanations in English)
3) why should a customer have to purchase translated training videos from a different company in order to use your product?
Apparently Quickbooks and Intuit have failed to notice the following demographics: While Mexico has the largest population of Spanish speakers (120+ million), the United States has approximately the SAME number of Spanish speakers as Spain and Colombia. If we have as many Spanish speakers in the USA as entire other COUNTRIES, why would a savvy business ignore an entire market segment? Or does Quickbooks relish giving up business to Sage and Alegra, which provide Spanish versions/translations of their bookkeeping software?
Hello there, gsa11.
I appreciate you informing us about what other users have to go through to learn about the program, including their preferences (uses the desktop). This type of information will help us determine which areas of QuickBooks Online (QBO) we need to improve in order to better meet the needs of our customers.
That being said, you can inform our product engineers that adding the Spanish language to the QuickBooks website (US) and the online program would benefit a lot of users (Hispanic clients). This allows them to easily navigate to the product and complete their tasks. Simply click the Gear icon in the upper right and select Feedback to send your product suggestions.
As a workaround, change the language settings in your browser (Google Chrome and Microsoft), as mentioned by my colleague above.
When using the product, I want to be sure you have access to the resources you need. That is why I am including a link to our online guide. From there, you'll find subtopics that will guide you through any accounting activity, such as banking, payroll, taxes, inventory, and cash flow management, to name a few.
If you have any additional product suggestions or other QuickBooks concerns, tap the Reply button and enter them in the field box. I'll get back to you to help you the best that I can. Have a good one.
Sir, changing the language on the browser is not going to solve the problem. It's that QB is not fully functional for Spanish speakers (50+ million in the US) because of the lack of Spanish training videos. I am a Proadvisor and if I want to teach a Spanish speaking customer to use QB, I either have to do it myself or they have to pay a third party to translate all of the videos. Nobody really wants to spend more money and so they either decline bookkeeping software or use one of the few companies that already provide it as an option in their software.
And, by the way, improving QBO is NOT going to make users want to switch from desktop to online. People prefer to have their accounting information stored on their own computer and not stored on a corporation's server.
