My hard drive crashed and I was able to retrieve some old backup files.
I am restoring that now but it has been running for 26 hours now. It is buffering and hasn't crashed or froze but I don't know how long I should wait, considering I don't even know if it will be restored. I should mention some of the information goes back to 2009, so it is a huge file.
Has anyone been in this situation and does it seem normal to take such a long time?
There can be several reasons why it takes a long time to restore your backup file in QuickBooks Desktop, Kat1090. Here are a few possible factors.
However, if you've already waited for an extended period and the restoration process is still ongoing, I recommend contacting QuickBooks support for further assistance. They can guide you through the restoration process of your data.
I'd suggest checking out this website: QuickBooks Data Services FAQ. This article contains a FAQ about the data process.
In case you see any errors when restoring your backup, visit this article: Get help with Error: Failed or Error: Restore Failed.
If you have other concerns about retrieving your backup, please don't hesitate to leave a message in the comment section. I'm always around here in the Community to help.
How big is the file size? More than 1 GB?
