HELP! My computer recently crashed during a windows update and had to be completely restored. Everything but the Quickbooks data was restored by my computer tech who brought the computer back to life. I have read all the articles onine on how to try and recover the lost data, but am not having any luck. Unfortunately I did not have a back on a portable hard drive. Hoping to recover my 7 years of data for our household finance
Start to secure *.QBW, *.QBB, *.QBM, and *.ADR files that you can retrieve from the crashed machine and portable storage.
I lost a whole year of entries, after my compture died, no back up
Can you secure any files as I have mentioned earlier?
Hello there, @3302406929.
I know how vital for your business to get your QuickBooks and company file up and running. Let me point you in the right direction on how to recover your data.
In addition to the details provided by @Fiat Lux - ASIA, we'll have to find the location of your QuickBooks file. By default, it is saved in the following path: C:\Users\Public\PublicDocuments\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.

Here's how:
I also recommend creating a backup of your company to prevent accidental loss. For tips and tricks on how to check the password details and get a copy of your QuickBooks, check this article: Restore your file.
Also, utilize the solution in these resources to find missing data:
Fill me in if you have other QuickBooks concerns or additional questions on how to restore the program. I'd be glad to respond to them.
