Buy nowIntuit rolled out a patch last Friday and broke out QB.
The issue is some users seem to be opening hundreds of attachments from the Attach\Company Folder.
It seems the is with R69?
I saw someone mentioned they rolled back their version to R58?
I'm wondering if they rolled back their server version? and ALL their workstations? Or would the rolled back work if we rolled back a workstation only to R58?
What is odd, is I have some PC's working and some have the problem. So the patch has an issue with something on the workstation?

We are also experiencing this issue, and the product is unusable for our whole staff. Enterprise 24 R15_69. Clearly was an auto-update as several DLLs in the program files have a timestamp of this morning and no intentional updates were applied. Each computer is touching/locking over 1000 files/folders in the Attach directory constantly. Support has been less than helpful and barely acknowledges the issue, but supposedly, the 'backend team is working on it'.
I talked with support a few hours ago and they mentioned a temp work around was to rename the attach folder to attach.old.
This sounds very odd to me as that folder contains images of invoices that current.
I asked them if it would affect the function of QB and they said no, I don't really believe them?
Anyone else try this crazy temp fix?
I was told by support a few hours ago that a temp work around may be to rename the Attach folder to attach.old.
This doesn't seem like a legit fix as that folder contains current images of invoices and sales orders.
But the issue after the update is some user logins cause hundreds of files to open from that txn folder under the attach\company name folder.
Some users are not effected? It's a really odd issue.
I'm 100% having the same issue was related the critical fixes. My last end-user to get that patch was working fine then it updated and bam horribly slow.
Yeah seems like you'll end up not being able to open attached bills and not really sure how you'd combine the folder after a fix is in place.
I spent 7 hours testing the network and workstations and trying to resolve the issue. I called Intuit and spent four hours on the phone. They could not resolve the issue. They wanted me to upload the company file for them to investigate. That was not an option as the entire company would be shut down while waiting.
I resolved it by uninstalling QuickBooks Enterprise 24 on the workstations that had updated to R15_69 and reinstalling it. I did NOT run the updates after installing and I unchecked all items in the update options so that the software would not go and update automatically.
QuickBooks Enterprise 24 Slowness and Open Files Issue – Temporary Fix
I ran into the same issue and wanted to share what worked for me. I performed a repair installation of QuickBooks Enterprise 24, and after that, the slowness issue was resolved—at least for now.
I also noticed that all of the Attach folders were showing as open under “Open Files” on the server for users who had the update installed. After doing the repair, the user logged back in and none of the Attach folders were displayed under Open Files anymore.
Worth noting: Things stayed stable as long as no further QuickBooks updates were installed. So if you’re seeing similar performance issues or strange file behavior, this might be a good temporary fix to try.
Hope this helps someone!
Glad a repair worked for you. It was the first thing i tried but it didnt help. I dont recall what version Qb was before or after the repair so maybe that was the issue.
Our QB Sh!Z the bed last Thursday 7/31 after the R15_71 update. It takes several minutes for the software to even open for use on our 11 PCs. Doesn't even matter if it's just one logged on. Entering a transaction or even switching from one "module" to another (ie, going from Enter Bills to Receive Payments) takes anywhere from 40-90+ seconds. Recording any type of transaction is the same. It is moving slower than a snail in molasses. Entering a customer invoice is taking forever as each line item averages around a minute before it will let you advance to the next line on the invoice. Tried running updates and rebooting on Thursday thinking that would help and got a firewall error code. Had our IT guy come and drop the firewall, got updates but still have the freezing up/slow processing issue. He called QB support and first they told him it was a problem with our network and he told them it was not. THEN they said it was a problem with the "attachment file" and gave him a link for the fix. He ran that Friday night after hours. Saturday morning we tested it and it didn't change anything. We did the QB tool hub, ran repair file, repair network. Nothing. Verify & rebuild data.....still didn't fix. Did a complete uninstall/re-install and that didn't work. So this morning at 9:00AM, he and I called QB tech support and were told it was a GLOBAL ISSUE that they have been aware of since LAST WEEK and are working to fix but had no work around. She wanted to have us do everything we had already done since Friday even though we told her it had already been done and didn't fix anything. When my IT guy asked why would we do all of that again if it didn't work since it was a known problem on THEIR end, she basically said it's what they've been told to tell customers. We are literally DAYS behind because it's taking so long to complete a single transaction and they have no idea when a solution will be available. This is the second MAJOR issue I've had since May with an update that screwed something up. QB needs to go back to the annual upgrade instead of these forced updates to the V24. I've had nothing but problems ever since we upgraded to the 2024. I wish I could roll back to 2023.

Luckily this is happening to only 1 out of 6 users in my company right now. The repair/reboot works great until they somehow get the update again. The update is not being downloaded manually. Right now, I'm trying a workaround where you disable access to the folder where auto-updates get staged. Hopefully that will work for this user until an official fix is released. Having to do a repair/reboot every time is going to be annoying.
Quickbooks really needs to give us control over whether Quickbooks updates or not. It's really annoying when users who don't have Admin privileges on their machines get denied access to Quickbooks because they are determined to be out of date for too long and can't do the update themselves. It's annoying when the Quickbooks server and the clients get so far out of version sync that it starts causing issues and then you have to go and update everyone and the server.
Honestly, I wish they would just kill the Quickbooks Desktop software and force everyone to go to Online or somewhere else. This is the worst software I've ever had to support and I've been in IT for 20 years. If you could actually get support for Quickbooks, it might be easier to deal with. All we get is someone who can walk us through re-installing Quickbooks or using the Tools Hub - if that doesn't work, you're out of luck. I keep urging them to switch to something else, but they are so comfortable and don't want to change. Maybe this will be the wakeup call they need because it is affecting the one user who uses Quickbooks the most.
Did you see he posts on a temp fix?
Running a windows control panel repair on QB will get the pc running.
You can tell if the user is having a problem from the server, by watching the open files, you'll see the problem pc's trying to open up a bunch of files from the attach folder.
Call support and get on the contact list for a permanent fix. The investigation # is inv-129564
I just got an update email from QB Support saying the permanent fix is in... and to run the latest QB update.
FYI
I also received this email . The problem is it is telling us to go to R15_69 and we have rolled back to R15_27 and it is working. When we do the update it goes back to R15_71 and the slowness comes back. It wont let us update to R15_69

You first.
R15_69 seems to also be a problem. When we do an update it shows R15_71. It seems control Panel uninstall repair will bring it back to R15_27 and QB then works again. Still having issues when it updates to R15_71

We don't have reliable internet where we are located so a strictly online option wouldn't work for us. Shoot, every time a good storm comes through, we lose power, internet and phones which are VOIP. Our saving grace is not having our QB online or we wouldn't be able to help customers at all. I can re-route phones using my cell phone app.
NOPE, STILL DOES NOT WORK!!! WHAT A JOKE.
I just tried the new update and it did NOT work
Nope, I did an update and it did NOT fix it.
Mine is still showing Version R15_71 after the update. It showed it downloaded a critical update and installed it but it's not working. Still slow like before.
