Sales and work order history

Good to see your post here, Cardinalpower.

Let's bring back the missing Item sales history in your Point of Sale.

If missing transactions were only a few, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Point of Sale , then select Sales History.
  2. Click the Sales Receipt that needs to be resent to QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Select I want to , then select Show Financial Detail.
  4. Choose Resend this document during the next financial exchange.
  5. Click Financial, then select Update QuickBooks.

If missing transactions were too many, here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. In QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale, select Financial, then Financial center.
  2. Choose Show Advanced Options.
  3. Select Recover Data Now.
  4. Click Continue on the warning message.
  5. Enter the date range that was covered by the original financial exchange.
  6. Type Yes in the confirmation window and select Continue.

You'll want to keep this article handy for more details of the steps above: Point of Sale transactions are missing in QuickBooks Desktop after a financial exchange.

Sales and work order history

He is not speaking of anything to do with QuickBooks Desktop Financial. He is meaning that the SO is not showing up under the customer's history when he looks up the customer profile within POS.

Thanks for the clarification, Cardinalpower. I', here to ensure this is taken care of.

I recommend performing a clean install of your QuickBooks Point of Sale. This help resolves problem while running the software. I've listed a few things to remember before proceeding:

  • Secure a backup copy of your data file.
  • Have your QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale download file or your installation CD.
  • Have your License and Product Numbers are available.
  • Sign in as Windows Administrator before performing the next steps.
  • The computers you will be working on are available to be restarted.

Here's the complete process:

Step 1: Uninstall QuickBooks Point of Sale

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows + R to open the Run window.
  2. Enter “Control Panel”, then select OK.
  3. Select Programs and Features.
Note: If the Control Panel is in Category View, select Uninstall a Program.
  4. In the list of programs, select QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 18.0, then select Uninstall/Change.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the process.

Step 2: Rename all Point of Sale folders

If you uninstalled from the server computer, copy the Point of Sale data folder and paste it to the Desktop. As a suggestion, add 'OLD' at the end of the folder name to prevent the software from recognizing the folder.

Folder locations

  • C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks POS XX
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks POS XX
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8
  • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 18.0

Delete the QBPOSDBSrvUser Windows user

  1. Select Windows Start and select Control Panel.
  2. Select User Accounts and choose Manage another account.
  3. In the User Account Control window, select Continue.
  4. Select QBPOSDBSrvUser and select Delete the account.
  5. Confirm the folder has been deleted.
  6. Restart your computer.

Step 3: Reinstall Point of Sale

To reinstall the program, please see this article for the detailed steps: Install QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.

Step 4: Restore your company file

  1. Open QuickBooks Point of Sale, create a new company file with the name you want to use.
  2. Restore the backup created.
  3. After the file is restored and you have verified it is the right set of data, verify you can close and reopen Point of Sale without errors, connect with other POS machines, and connect with QuickBooks Desktop (if applicable).
  4. Register QuickBooks Point of Sale again.
