Join nowIt seems there should be a way in the customer file to open up a sales order and view related purchase orders and the po's filled and unfilled quantities. Is there possibly a field on the sales order template that we are not using that would do this? The items on the sales order are non-inventory parts that we order from vendors. We do not stock inventory and do not have Advanced Inventory enabled.

Hi there, @AccountingGF.
I hope you're having a successful week so far. After doing some research on the customer file opening sales orders, I can inform you that the feature isn't available in QuickBooks Desktop. However, I can see how this feature would be beneficial to you and other users, so I'm going to submit this fantastic idea to our Product Development team. This will allow them to consider your idea for future QuickBooks updates. In the meantime, you can check out the QuickBooks blog page for any new updates to our programs.
Feel free to hit the reply button if you have any other questions or concerns. Enjoy the rest of your week!

This would be EXACTLY what I need for our business!
Yes! Our business needs this feature as well.
I use the job tracking fields in Desktop Enterprise on our purchase order for customer specific purchases. Each time a line is added to a purchase order for a specific client I reference the customer under the customer/job field. I then use an open purchases order by job report to track progress by job. You can change the filters to show both open and closed p.o.s as needed. You can also create multiple jobs under a customer. This helps to separate purchases for different projects. I use the job name field to put a reference to my bid number from another software so I can quickly compare information from both sources.
Customer 1
Repairs Bid 1487
Install Bid 898
As long as I input the correct job when purchasing items I am able to pull on-order item reports with the customer referenced. Hope this helps.
