Sales Tax Disappear

So most recently, when we convert estimates to an invoice the sales tax dissapears completely and we have to remark taxable on our taxable items. The estimate applies taxes fine, it's something during the conversion to invoices that changes the product to non-taxable. We need it to stay the same, and apply taxes to the invoice. Please help!

Sales Tax Disappear

Thank you for posting here in the Community @zenkiagI am available to assist you in determining the issue on your side.

To sort this out, I’d recommend performing basic troubleshooting steps. In this manner, we can eliminate common errors that may occur in your company file. To start, please open your browser's private window. It isolates the cache, which is the common cause of a browser's unusual behavior.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you can successfully access your account, it's likely that your browser's cached data is causing the issue. I'd recommend clearing them so you can access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also use a different supported browser to see if the issue persists.

Furthermore, you can refer to this article for more guidance and information about sales tax:

Sales Tax Disappear

Yesterday it happened again. Two estimates, same customer. One converted to invoice with taxes just fine, the other didn't. There is a bug or something that needs fixed.

Sales Tax Disappear

Yesterday it happened again. Same customer, two estimates. One converted to invoice with taxes, the other without. It turns off taxable on the items that are taxable. Obviously the settings are fine because it worked as it should with one invoice but not the other. Appears to be a really problematic bug that needs fixed.

Sales Tax Disappear

Thanks for getting back with the Community, zenkiag.

If you've already performed the troubleshooting steps shared by ArielI, you'll want to be aware that QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of browsers. If you find that you're using an unsupported version, be sure to update it to its latest release. Steps for doing so can be found on the particular company's website.

In the event you've found no problems that could be causing this with your browser, you'll want to check the operating system and internet speed you're working with.

Here's our recommended operating systems and internet speeds:

  • Windows PC: Windows 10, Intel Core i5 or comparable processor (2015 or newer) with at least 4 GB of RAM.
  • Mac: OS X "Big Sur" 11.1 or newer.
  • Internet connection: 3 Mbps or higher.

Here's our minimum requirements for operating systems and internet speed:

  • Windows PC: Windows 10, Intel Core i3 or a comparable processor (2013 or newer) with at least 2 GB of RAM.
  • Mac: OS X El Capitan 10.11 or newer.
  • Internet connection: 1.5 Mbps.

If you meet each of our system requirements, but are still noticing sales taxes disappearing, I'd recommend using a different device and/or internet connection. If it continues happening on other devices and internet connections, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while you're signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Help (?) icon.

  2. Click Contact Us.

  3. Enter a description of your situation in the What can we help you with? field, then hit Let's talk.

  4. Select Start messaging or Get a call.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I've also included a detailed resource about system requirements for QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward: System requirements

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a lovely Thursday!
