Hello,
We just upgraded from Windows server 2003 (yeah, i know..old) and Quickbooks Enterprise 2016.
moved all files to a new 2019 Windows server and installed Quickbooks Enterprise 2020 on server and workstations..
We were attaching many files to sales orders, and email communications to each customer transaction.
* One of the user was scanning documents in Attach function and had over 2800 scans over time in her local Quickbooks folder.
After moving to new server and version, only some of the attached files are there. Only email attachments by other user. No attached files that were scanned.
None of the workstation scanned and attached files are there.
Steps taken.
1. Copied all files under "\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 16.0\Scanned Documents" to "\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 20.0\Scanned Documents"
(about 2800 pdfs, into new 2020 folder on local PC, C: Drive)
2. Went to Company\Documents\repair. ( did not yield any results)
3. Downloaded Quickbooks Tools Hub. ran all kind of repairs.. Nothing.
Please advise as i'm lost and in need to fix this issue of attached files.
Thanks
Hello, Guy Jacobs.
I appreciate your effort in performing troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let's isolate this case by performing rebuilding and verifying your data in case there's any damage. The Verify Data utility identifies any potential data damage issues, while the Rebuild Data utility repairs data in your company file.
If the program is in multi-user mode, you need to change to single user mode (Go to File -> Switch to Single User Mode). It is very important that you have to create a backup copy of your company file before running Verify and Rebuild Data.
Verify Data:
Note: If the verify process is successful, you are done. In case it fails due to some problem, QuickBooks will notify you to run Rebuild data.
Rebuild Data:

I had a client file to do the bank recs. I returned the file and now they cannot find any of the attachments that they had attached to their customer. they did a test and that file is there and they can open. I tried to open
an attachment on the file i had here and it can not find it. but I also did a test and can find and open the attachment Does something happen to the file when a back up and restore is done? We have tried *.pdf
to find them and they did find a few but they think it could be thousands that they had
i am not sure what to do to find the attachments
The attachments are saved in the same location as your company file, debkgreene.
Renaming or moving the company file to a different location will break the connection between the Attached Documents and company file. You can re-link the Attached Documents so you can open them again.
Let me share these steps with you:

Did you also know that you can now attach documents using your mobile phone? All you need to do is to download the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app. Check out this article for more details: Attach Documents to Transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
