Sending an email in QuickBooks takes like 2 minutes, everything else is great.
This is on a local server running QB2023, I have uninstalled and reinstalled QB2023, this issue just suddenly started happening about a week ago. No other software has been installed on the server.
Hi there, JeffAnderson72.
I understand how inconvenient this 2-minute delay is, especially since everything else is operating normally. Allow me to help and make sure you can send emails smoothly without issues.
Various factors can cause a delay in sending emails in QuickBooks Desktop. It could be because of network connectivity, email server configuration, or a large email attachment. Thus, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this issue.
First, make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date with the latest patches and updates. QuickBooks releases periodic updates to address known issues and improve performance. Once done, download and install the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Then, follow the steps below to run a QuickFix in the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
Here's how:
I've added this link for more information about fixing common issues and errors: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub
If you're still experiencing delays in sending emails, you can check and confirm the email server settings, port number, and authentication details. It's also a good idea to test your email settings using a different email client to verify if the issue lies within QuickBooks or the email server itself. I am also currently experiencing delays when sending emails. I have also reinstalled QBD and have checked all email ports. This issue has not been resolved.
I assume this has something to do with the mandatory/ involuntary update occurring in May 2024.
Hello there, NET2019.
Yes, the delays you encountered may be caused by the upcoming update in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This update will impact users of QuickBooks Desktop 2021 and earlier versions and will result in service discontinuation after May 31, 2024. In addition, access to live support, and receiving the latest critical patch and updates will be unavailable. Thus, upgrading to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop will help prevent any potential issues and ensure you have access to the features and support.
Furthermore, you can view this website to learn how to upgrade to a newer version of QBDT within the program: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
Keep us posted if there's anything else you'd like to ask us, and we'll make sure to help you in any way we can.

I have tried everything you have listed, and other things people on other sites have said to try and still takes 20 seconds for a PO, INV & packing slips to send and when I add shipping labels to the email it takes about 10 seconds longer. one our other system with less hard drive, memory etc. it sends anything very quickly. This system did until last week when we upgraded to 2TB and 32GB and the issue started. Help because this 20-30 seconds seems like I could walk down the street and back.
Thank you for confirming that you've completed the troubleshooting steps advised by my colleague, @Michael77.

They spent 45 minutes to and hour and couldn't figure anything out and while I was on hold they hung up and ended our online screen sharing.
Chiming in to perhaps get this more attention.
Emails (specifically invoices) cannot be sent in a timely manner. It is NOT because my system needs to restart. It is NOT because I need to update. It is NOT because I need to upgrade. Is is NOT my internet provider or connection.
Don't send your PAYING USERS to customer service to do it ourselves. It is a SYSTEM issue. We pay for you to run a viable system and platform.
