When tabbing through the fields when entering a new bill, the tab key gets hung up on the "category" field (or chart of account field) and you have to manually point your mouse at the field to enter it. It just started doing this a month or so ago. I've sent 2 feedbacks to Intuit but still doesn't work.
Thanks for using QuickBooks Online in tracking your bill transactions, tmoswgr. I know how difficult it is when you can't add a category. I'm here to help you with that.
Let’s access your QuickBooks Online account using a private window. This helps us determine if this is a browser-related issue.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
From there, try creating a bill again. If it works, I suggest clearing your regular browser's cache. This deletes all saved data files from your browser and starts with a clean slate.
If the issue persists, try using other supported browsers. That way, we can check if this is a browser-integrated issue.
In case you plan to charge a customer for the bill transactions, you can easily do this in the program. To learn how, please see this article: Enter Billable Expenses.
Keep us posted on how it goes, tmoswgr. I’ll be more than happy to help you out again. Keep safe always!
I tried it in incognito mode of google and also edge. The tabbing function still gets caught up in the same place on both browswers.
Good afternoon, @tmoswgr.
Thanks for coming back on this thread.
Since the troubleshooting steps didn't work for this tabbing issue, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll be able to do a screen share with you to walk you through some additional steps.
It's that easy!
Keep us updated on how the call goes. I'm only a post away if you need me. Have a great day!
I've been having the same issue for over a week. Not working in incognito mode either.
I was told by an agent this issue is actively being worked on.
Leave it to Intuit to screw things up. Every time a change is made to "improve" the program, there is a feature that gets screwed up and there never seems to be any urgency to correct it. The issue of not being able to tab through fields on a bill is a tremendous efficiency issue.
@CharleneMaeF and @Candice C Being that you are the QB employees, you should know better than I do that this is a known issue and being worked on.
Thanks for reaching out to us, @bonita-gloriosos.
We have received reports from other users having the same issue as what Just_me is experiencing. And at this time, our product engineers are investigating the root cause and implementing a fix. While they do, I suggest contacting our Support Team to include you in the list of affected users. Once you're added, expect an email from our engineers for updates.
To reach them, click the ? Help button at the top-right corner and select Contact Us to talk with a live agent. Ensure to review their support hours to know when agents are available.
I am also having this issue and it is infuriating.
I received a message this was resolved. IN FACT, IT IS NOT. It doesn't work on a bill specifically.
@tmoswgr Are you referring to typing in the Category, then tabbing out of it, but can't?
I ask, because that seems to be the issue I am having now. I have to click the actually "Category" number that I am typing in, then I can tab.
Yeah, I still have that same issue. Good luck getting anyone at QB to understand it.
Hello, Just_me and tmoswgr.
I understand the importance of having to use the Tab key to move through the fields easily when creating a bill. With that said, I'd like to take this opportunity to address the issue.
As what you've pointed out before, we had an investigation about Category field and the Tab key not working properly. This case was closed and it appears to have been resolved by our engineers.
Since the issue has resurfaced, we'd like to take another look at this problem and raise it to our engineers again. If you haven't done it, you'll want to contact our support and help you fix this.
Here's how to reach them:
Just_me has also pointed out a possible workaround regarding this issue above. Let's use that in the meantime until the issue is fixed.
I'll add this article in case other users want to know more about the shortcut keys in QuickBooks: Keyboard shortcuts for QuickBooks Online.
In case you'd like to run some reports to see the outstanding open bills, customer transactions, and other entries, we can take a look at this article for a guide: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
We appreciate your patience in light of the Tab key and Category field issue. If you have any other concerns regarding your bills and other entries, let me know and I'll help you out.
The tabbing function on the journal entries STILL DOES NOT WORK! And yes, I've called in.
Did you find any solution ?
The stored files in your browser can cause unexpected behavior or failures in QBO, @ssaa123.
Your cache saves the files from many websites you visit, so you can quickly load the pages the following time. The browsing speed of websites like QBO may be impacted if the cache is retaining too much data.
It's a good idea to check for issues brought on by a full cache when browsing anonymously because doing so prevents the cache from recording your browsing data. You may also try to use other browsers.
If the steps above will not work, you can use supported browsers as an alternative.
If the given procedures are successful, I advise you to clear the cache in your browser to avoid utilizing outdated forms, safeguard your data, and improve the performance of our programs on your computer.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our Customer Care team. You can request a screen-sharing session so they can investigate further the reason for this issue.
Here’s how:
