Taxable Items

On the old estimates and invoices there used to be a total on the bottom showing what the taxable amount was but it is now gone on the new estimate and invoice. We NEED to see this.  WHY did quickbooks take some very much needed things away on the new invoice. I think the new version is HORRIBLE and wish I could go back to the older version.

Hi there, @Sharon119.

I understand that the new invoice layout may be unfamiliar to you. Rest assured I'll share some information to help you locate the total taxable amount on the new estimate or invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In the old estimates and invoices, there was a total displayed at the bottom that showed the taxable amount. In the new layout, you can access this information by clicking on the See the math button, which will show you how your sales tax is calculated.

Here's a photo for your reference:

Moreover, I want to let you know that your voice matters, and we appreciate you sharing your feedback directly with our engineers for the new experience of invoices and estimates. Our product development team will review your suggestion and may consider adding it in future updates. Here's how to send Feedback:

 1. Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.

 2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.

 3. Select Next to submit.

Additionally, I'll be sharing these articles for future help to learn what's new with estimate and invoice layout. Also, how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms for QuickBooks Online:

I hope that this information will aid you in initiating your task, Sharon119. I'm always here to help if you need further assistance. Keep Safe!

I am looking at an estimate and when I hit see the math my screen does not look like that. At the top it shows how your sales tax is calculated, then it has a drop down box for a sales tax rate, and an enter sales tax manually but NOWHERE does it show the TOTAL amount of the products and services that are taxed.

We hear your sentiments, Sharon119.

We understand that this feature is beneficial to streamline your business processes. However, the ability to show the total amount of the products and services that are taxed featured in the old layout is already improvised by the new experience.

Moreover, you can still submit your feedback to our software engineers. This way, they can review your suggestion and may consider adding it back for forthcoming product enhancements.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your feature request, then Next.

You may also keep tabs on the status of your recommendation by visiting our Customer Feedback page.

You have no answer as to why I don't see what you are telling me is on the see the math screen. This is not a beneficial feature to the business IT IS NECESSARY

As I have already replied and still have not received an answer.  You tell me to see the math but  as I stated my screen is blank when I click on it and this is information that we have to have without manually figuring it on a 10 page or larger invoice.  Please fix this ASAP!!!!!

I understand what you're currently experiencing right now, Shanon. Rest assured, I'm here to help you fix the display wherein you'll see the total amount of the taxable items on the estimate when clicking the See the math button.

Sometimes, our browser's cache will be too much for a website to handle. Too much browser cache can cause malfunctions and blank pages on certain websites, and this applies to all websites that use vast browser temporary files. Let's get that fixed as soon as possible. Let's start with accessing QuickBooks Online using incognito mode or a private window.

Here are the shortcut keys to go private mode in a browser:

For Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge / Opera:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mac: Command ⌘ + Shift + N

For Firefox:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Mac: Command ⌘ + Shift + P

For Safari:

  • Shift + Command ⌘ + N

If this works, you can proceed to clear your browser's cache and cookies. Otherwise, you can also use other supported browsers to ensure it runs QBO efficiently.

Furthermore, you can consider creating and printing a packing slip in QuickBooks Online.

Please don't hesitate to leave a reply if you need further assistance in handling your sales taxes through the invoice creation page in QBO. I'm always here to assist you.

I AM NOT WANTING to see a blank screen. I NEED to see the total amount of the taxable items on the estimate. I tried the solution above and it changed nothing. I still see a blank screen. I often have very large estimates and MUST see the total amount of the taxable items. PLEASE FIX THIS so I don't have to take the time to manually figure the taxable amount every time!!!!!
