My client's computer crashed causing a loss of his beautiful Estimates custom template. The laptop is somewhere being serviced so he hopefully can at minimum get his qbw file. Where are Templates located so he can tell the service company the location of files he needs? He uses QB desktop, not sure what year he was using on his crashed laptop. He is now using QB Pro desktop 2022.

but where on c:\ are template files located. I've searched for *.des files but cannot locate Quickbooks templates.
Thanks anyway.
You will find it easily in the folder when the QuickBooks program was installed. If you are using QBD 2021 or an older version, the default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit.old\QuickBooks [year]
I've spent hours searching for CUSTOM TEMPLATES to no avail. Is this a confidential secret? Are you not allowed to disclose the location of CUSTOM TEMPLATES? Is there no location and the custom template info is in an obscure file ending in .ini or .dat?
I appreciate your effort in locating your custom template, raleighkim.

i found several templates but cannot identify CUSTOM TEMPLATES. Guess that's a big secret.
I'm confused about your problem. If you don't mind, I can help to remote to your machine to make sure.
this issue is not on my laptop.
The laptop that has my client's custom Estimate template is being serviced.
In my original post I tried to explain my client's laptop crashed. He sent it somewhere that will attempt to recover his data.
You remotely connecting to my laptop will not answer my question. This is a general question asking for the location of CUSTOM TEMPLATES.
All I want to know is the location on a C:\ drive of a CUSTOM TEMPLATE.
I found templates on my own personal laptop but I cannot locate CUSTOM TEMPLATES.
I don't know how else to explain this or what other words or phrases to use to explain my question.

Custom template files can be anywhere on the local drive. It depends on the user when they create the file the first time or copy it from another computer. By default you will find them in the same folder as the other standard template files If you can't find it with the file explorer, chances are the file is missing or corrupted due to bad sectors.
